Tamiya Skyline GT-R

Started this small GT-R kit while waiting on some paint and detail parts for my Lotus. This is a early version of the GT-R. I am going to paint the body and chassis a Splash color Valencia Red.

I got the body prepped and primed yesterday. Nothing done today as I spent the day with my camera buds.
I hope to prep the primer with 12,000 tomorrow and lay down the Valencia Red on the body, chassis, mirrors, and spoiler.

Here is an update on my Skyline build. I got this done before I went on vacation. The 1st pass on the painting failed and I had to re-strip and go again. The chassis turned out OK and the rear spoiler, hood and mirrors needed more layers. Body here had to be sanded twice as I got in a hurry. UGH!
This is the second pass and with 5 layers of metallic and 4 layers of pearl

This week I hope to get the P2K layed down on the body

Looking good man!! Lovin' the color, too. And thank you for not painting it black. Nothing wrong with black - just think road cars look "interesting" when painted something different than the box color

Between the GTR, First gen Supra, 77' Celica, and the 95' Eclipse GSX. I can't pick a favorite from those 4. I'm sure this GTR will be very pretty in that red once you're done!!

Yes on the vacation. My wife is Federal, I am retired. You take the dates when you can. We prefer to the mountains in the fall and the beach we have a timeshare in the end of summer. The rest just comes as it does.

Here is an update on my Skyline build: I have had a chance to do some work on the chassis and body since I cam back from visiting the mountains.

Very nice progress, indeed. I'm diggin' the color. Great detail work on the engine and chassis, are the suspension components just a flat black? They look really good.

Thanks you Barry. The paint on the suspension is Tamiya X-18, Semi-Gloss. The Boots on the joints are XF-1 Flat black. The body is painted with Splash paint the color is Valencia Red, a Honda color. It is a 2 part metallic and Pearl top coat. Top coat is a P2K
