Tamiya 1/24 Subaru Impreza '98 Monte Carlo

My first project, completed early this year. The 22B remains my favourite Impreza and World Rally Car, period. I saw McRae winning Rally GB in this later that year, although I only actually saw blinding fog lamps and glowing brake discs; the crackling turbo and distinctive engine growl sounded cool though!

Some painful lessons were learned during the build which was not an efficient process. Getting the shell painted to a satisfactory level using rattle cans in a dusty and cold garden shed is not without difficulties, I discovered. Also, in retrospect, the kit is probably a bit decal-heavy to qualify as a good choice for a novice; fellow beginners might want to practise elsewhere first or risk having to buy a second kit like I did.

It’s painted pretty much exactly as per the instruction sheet in Tamiya colours: the wheels are TS-21 and the body is TS-50 with a TS-13 clear coat. The after-market harnesses are Eduard #24201.

Whilst imperfect, I'm pleased with the final result and am grateful to all those I've gleaned useful tips from. Particular thanks to Paul for his useful YouTube (Tamiya '99 Subaru) series which actually brought me to this forum.

Pete, that is an excellent job on the Scooby!! love the interior detail and the finish on the body is second to none - especially for a rattle can paint job!! Great work, man!

Hey Pete, you might want to try a different pic hosting site - your photobucket pics are getting the "blur" and watermark over your shots - too beautiful of a kit not to see it in all its glory.

I use Shutterfly - it's free and easy and unlimited as well. There are still free hosting sites to choose from, may want to look into a different one so you can share your hard work clearly.
