Tamiya Porsche 911 gt1

Hi all.

My next build is this kit from tamiya a 1/24 model of Porsches 911 Gt1 as raced at Le Mans in 1996.

Made a start by cleaning and test fitting some parts.

More soon.

Yes! Right up my street this one, this has been on my wishlist for ages now, but I haven't got round to picking one up. A mate of mine built it way back in the day using superglue and no paint, and it still turned out looking good, so that's a glowing reference for Tamiya again, I'm sure you will smash it out of the park.

The decals will be your biggest obstacle I think, pretty involved scheme that.

Hi all, back with a bit, black, black and more black oh and a bit of white.
Sprayed most of the parts in LP5 semi gloss black and the body with zero paints brilliant white.

Hi all. This week I’ve worked on the engine, gearbox and rear suspension.
Painted with tamiya and Alclad paints lots of masking and detail brush painting.

Barry, yes the rear bodywork is removable to view the engine.

Finally finished the rear end, disc brakes and front suspension all done.
If anyone decides to build this kit take you time doing the turbos and exhaust because they all need to line up so the engine supports
Also line up with the rear baulkhead. Just waiting for the new decal sheet to finish the bodywork.

Hi all. I’ve now finished the wheels and tyres, the centre gold was painted with super metallic gold
then the wheel nuts were painted silver, then covered in clear tamiya red and blue.
Tyre decals were applied and then covered in alclad clear Matt to protect them.

Bit more done today. Seat and seatbelts done, the one thing I dread doing seat belts.
Dash board done and engine fixed to the floor pan. Tomorrow ill get the gloss coat done.

This is a great looking kit, what did you use for the seat belts? they are very realistic.

Hi Keith
I used a photo etch set from Turner model manufactory it also come with a sheet of self adhesive fabric. I think this is now out of production, if you have a look at hiro boy or spot model they supply other makes, help that helps.
