Tamiya SU-122 winter wash build

Chose this kit as my next build, hoping to be a quick and simple one :thumb1:

Kit fell together, as expected being a Tamiya Kit and within a few hours it was ready for primer

Then after 24 hours of cure time, I have now given everything a coat of Vallejo Model Air Russian 4BO Green

Next up will be painting the rubber on the road wheels, a spray of washable white and then the weathering

Cheers all

Well when comparing it to those dragon kits I bought the other day and peeked a look inside, they are!

:thumb2: Looking good and Dragon sometimes add more parts than are needed for the tank your kit is building as the sprues can cover all different marks of the same vehicle :jd: :eeek: . I bet you may get quite a few unused items that may come in handy for dio's ect in the future :thumb2:

I've noticed  which is fine since what I mostly enjoy doing is Soviet armor, I'll always have spare parts for them once I start doing more dragon kits

Got some stuff done. Applied the winter wash and then took some off with a few stiff brushes. Then applied Aqua Gloss where the decals would go and applied them once dry, and painted the rubber for the road wheels. Didn't have a suitable color on hand so I mixed some Vallejo German Grey and a touch of white to make a weatheredish grey color for the rubber on the road wheels.

Next up is a matte varnish and more chipping effects along with some washes

Some more progress made on the SU-122.

Gave it a dark brown wash to dirty it up, then a few spots of a rust wash was applied and then dragged with a brush soaked in thinner to make rust streaks from where the pieces had been welded or mounted.

Next will be some chipping and dry brushing the tracks to give them shiny spots from where the tracks wore on the roads.
Cheers :cheers2:

It's looking awesome. This is how I want my winter vehicles to look. What kind of white wash did you use?

I used AK Interactives washable white, sprayed it on, waited about 25-30mins and then went at it with water and several stiff brushes of various sizes :th:
