Started working on this build as well

It's a Dragon/Cyberhobby T-34/76 1940 production, I did a kit review of this on my YouTube channel as well. It seems to be a good kit so far, no real hickups to speak of



My work may end up closing for quarantine purposes so I'm sure I'll be getting more stuff done in a rapid fashion

Nice kit of the old warhorse. Got a couple of those Cyberhobby kits myself. Dragon plastic but decent prices. What's not to like.

I'm enjoying it most definitely, may need to get some more T-34 variants from dragon/Cyber hobby, can never have too many T-34 kits

I like Dragon T34's (I've built 2 in my time) and that shoudl turn out great. You've made a good start. I can't remember if that's the "Mickey Mouse" version...? Either way, looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

The really early T-34/76s just had one large hatch on their turret. I believe the 41' or 42' models had the "Mickey mouse" ear turrets that you're talking about, my Tamiya T-34 I did recently had those. And the name of it is the same as my username here

Yeah, I think you're right it was the 41 or 42 that had the ears - sometimes it's hard to keep up with T-34 production runs, what with different factories doing their own thing sometimes etc.
Sure it'll be a great build. Looking forward to what you do with it.

It doesn't help that there's a different classification system between manufacturers, i.e. Tamiya's 1942 T-34 isn't the same as Dragon's 1942 T-34. For what it's worth, 1940 and 1941 production tanks all had the single-hatch turret design. 1942 production vehicles had the "Mickey Mouse" style turret with two hatches. The production of T-34-85 started in 1944.

I'd like to build an example of one from each factory someday just to kind of highlight all the different small variants between them. That's one of the things I like about Soviet armor from that time period

Yeah that is so annoying and has been a bit of an issue for a while.

I apologise for being so sporadic on my updates lately, I tend to get into spells of depression and it just sucks away my will to build, unfortunately it's just how it is I suppose. Now enough droning on about my personal problems you're here for the tanks/models!

This is my first dragon /cyberhobby kit and I just say I'm impressed from the detail. It's honestly my favorite kit I've built to date. This may change when I get to these tracks but we shall see. For now the upper and lower hulls are done and mated together, as well as the Turret, this is the first production year of T-34/76 and its my second favorite production model



The theme I'm going to be going toward on this build is the "Survivor" a heavily beat up, but still alive first production model, she's a warrior and she's been thru hell and back.

Next I will probably be working on the road wheels and then the tracks. So stay tuned, I hope to get it done... eventually

Don't worry about having something to say about depression, it has touched most peoples lives in some way. My missus is on antidepressants, a neighbor sold up his property because of it and I know of at least 2 others who suffer from it. It's a horrible thing.
The guy who runs https://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/ has it, which is why the site doesn't have a lot of new reviews on it in recent times. Pity because he was really good at reviewing kits and telling us whats accurate or not.

That little "joy" carried over up until last of the T55/T62 series. Made armour recognition a nightmare in the 70's. Not only were there variations between Soviet Tank factories but with the Poles and, especially, the Czechs. Anything license built by the Czechs got "improved" - some more than others.

Typical Czechs, they didn't want the Kalashnikov so they make the Vz.58 and they didn't want the Makarov so they make the CZ-52 and later the CZ-82. And I have all three in my collection

Kit is looking great. Looking forward to how much punishment you meet out to the old war horse.

I would imagine the factories were under so much 'pressure' to meet their quotas its no wonder differences arose between production facilities. And by pressure I mean the '9mm in the back of the head, out in the woods' kind of pressure! I've heard there's no better motivational speaker than a party member if you know what I mean.

Lucky devil - I have a Makarov, an AK-74S , a SVD and a PKM - but this being the UK sadly all deactivated..... Authorities would have fit if any were still live!!
Must admit - I could find a good use for a live SVD these days!!

If I lived in the USA - I would too. Also got a deac Moisin-Nagant, Enfield Mk IV, 9m SMG, 7.62 L1A1, Mk IV Bren Gun and a Charlie G here... I would cheerfully kill for a Spetznaz issue Stechkin with the silencer. as used to great effect in Afghanistan

I visited a friend in Colorado a few years back - he and some friends had British L1A1's they were shooting at the local range - falling plate at 300 yards. Everyone of them was taking aim and firing single shots which was amusing, They let me have a go with a mag of 10 rounds at a round target at 100 yards to sight the weapon then a mag of 20 at the falling plates. Cue a group of gob-snacked US citizens when all 10 plates went down in very short order firing double taps from the waist... Difference being I spent around 8 years with an L1A1 as an extension of my right arm..
When I owned the OT-90 I was trying to get a 14.5mm KVPT which was the main armament. A firm in Poland was knocking out Polish deactivated ones at £900 - and live ones at £1100. Damn thing is over 6' long and once in the turret mount would be hard to tell if it was live or deac. Sooo tempted but UK laws prohibited European deacs so I would have had to find a UK Section 5 firearms dealer who could buy it, import it and deactivate it to UK Specifications and get either the London or Birmingham proof houses to deactivate it. Their mark up doubled the price so it never happened... Or I could have risked 10 years as a guest of Her Majesties Prison Service and taken a van over, bought either and just driven back with crates of beer around it. Fortunately whilst I may look stupid - I ain't!

And I think everybody has had depression at some point, and yeah, it can really destroy your motivation, not just for modelling, but for anything.

Been there dunnit on the depression side and will leave it there .Nice work and looking good

For sure, although their KV-1B I built recently was still pretty good looking for being such an old kit.
