IBG Models PZL P.11c Polish fighter build.

  This is the new kit from IBG Models the aircraft is the Polish air forces gull wing fighter that was in service from 1935 to 1939 [20 escaped the German invasion and flew to Romania where they were absorbed into that country's air force] This was an all metal fighter equiped with four machine guns, two in the fuselage and two in the wings. Powered by a Bristol Mercury V engine when it was first introduced it was seen as a cutting edge fighter but sadly by 1939 she was all but obsolete being outclassed by the ME 109's of the Luftwaffer.

The kit is supplied in a sturdy box and on lifting the lid several grey styrene sprue's can be seen, I will say here that for a 1/32 scale its not that big and all the sprue's are crisply molded with no flash. The fuselage detail of panel lines and rivets is very good as are the wings with the mini corugated wing sections/rivets clearly reproduced. The engine is also finely detailed as are all the other parts. The canopy is nicely molded in clear plastic. A small amount of etch is provided along with decals for 3 different aircraft.

The instructions are on glossy paper that include a sprue map and paint at the start followed by the assembly which takes part in sub assemblys before it all comes together. There are lots of panels in the fuselage/wings that give the choice of opened or closed and the instructions are easy to follow and clear the last three pages give the colors for the 3 aircraft you can build.

All in all a nice kit and will build well I also have an etch dash board, eduard etch set and paint set for the model from aftermarket sources.

I wondered who would be first to take on one of these. It caught my eye when announced so it will be interesting to see how the build unfolds :)

Definitely getting this kit. Not often you see a parasol fighter in 1/32 and this is super high quality too.

:thumb2: Thanks for looking in and your comments Digger. The whole kit is high in detail and it reminds me very much of a wingnut wings type build :thumb2:

 The build continues with the cockpit frame being made up the seat added ,after market dash/radio etch set and lots of provided etch added along with the seat belts. The first three pics show the assembly before painting. The instructions call for silver as the overall color for the fuselage internals so Alclads Airframe aluminium was used here. To tone it all down a sepia wash was used.

The engine assembly was next glued to the cockpit frame and when dry added to one fuselage side then the fuselage halves were joined together. The fuel tank and fuselage surround for the tank was assembled then painted.

  More done, the tailplane has been fitted along with the undercarriage and main wing. There was some pre-assembly to various parts but nothing major, all the fuselage covers have also been fitted now. The main spinner, wheels and engine cowl have been prepped and then undercoated and given a coat of Airframe Aluminium as has the rest of the airframe.

Very nice work Andy, looking good. There's something very elegant about these PZL fighters with their cranked main wing. A model subject that I've never tackled but one that I hope I will one day.

The airframe looks amazing in the bare metal finish. Are you leaving it thus or overlaying the green of the box art on it??

There's something really nice about the shape of this craft, I might have to get one for myself, although Mirage Hobby as a manufacturer gives me night horrors.

:th: Its got very nice lines thats what caught my eye when I first saw pictures of the kit. MIrage models are part of IBG then or vise versa as a kit this one builds well and the detail is top notch. :cheers2:
