Kitty Hawk AH-1Z 'Viper'

Post by Kevthemodeller »

It's done :th:

I've learned skips loads, not such a fan of helo's, Kitty Hawk kits are good but you've got the check the fit on everything. Overall the fit is good but things like the engine inspection doors, cockpit canopy, weapon and weapon racks particularly gave me varying levels of fit issues, the canopy was a nightmare

I've certainly regained my old interest in US naval jet aircraft, jets in general really, so look to see a few more in the future :th: I really enjoyed the painting the low viz, the shading, highlighting and weathering, learned so much.

Would I buy another Kitty Hawk kit................ quite possibly, you just have to check and check again the fit of every part.

Apologies in advance for the picture quality all taken on my phone.

That is a lovely build - and all the more so considering the issues you had through out. Congratulations. :) :)

I think that's a fantastic build. A few problems, but it's turned out excellently. What a great finish. Superb.

:cheers2: Fella's :th: I did enjoy the kit and would recommend it providing you accept it's potential issues, a Tamiya it is not. If you like a bit of a challenge it's fine, it's just a shame as it could be so much better with improved moulding, but that's cost/profit I guess. I've now got to find somewhere to display it

    Looks great! I like it!!!

And I am doing the KH SU-35 right now. So far my only issue has been figuring the instructions out. Once you see the flow, they are clear. Its just getting there is an effort. LOL
