Thinning Tamiya TS paints?

Morning,

So I have decanted my Tamiya TS-7 paint (successfully) and applied it via the airbrush directly to the model.

It was a bit of a struggle adjusting the airbrush and it felt as if it was struggling to get through (the nozzle was wide open).

I kept layering the paint in what seemed to be very thin layers, as it just wasn't coming through effectively.

Consequently the finish is a bit dodgy and seems to have the dreaded 'orange peel' effect, and a bit rough to the touch

Should I have thinned this decanted paint? Is that what is normally done? If so what type of thinner, I presume the usual Ultimate stuff may not be suitable. Do I need a lacquer thinner?

I have followed Paul's advice on this and thin it with approx 10% Tamiya lacquer Thinner with Retarder.

The Tamiya recommended proportions are slightly different, but I'll definitely be taking that advice next time. Thanks. It's on order

Not sure if I can face stripping the new paint back, any ideas? I read some strippers will damage the plastic?

You don't need to strip the old paint off if it's a little rough. Just sand it out with fine wet and dry 1000, 1200 even 1500 used wet and respray over the top when you have the appropriate thinner..
