Hello everyone, just a quick intro.
My name is Iain, and I live just outside Glasgow. I have various modelling interests and have been a railway modeller for about 10 years now, but my main interests include most transport things.... trains, buses, trucks, civilian aircraft, cars etc. I’m completely new to kit building and have never completed a kit from a box. My first attempted is an Italeri 1:24 Scania truck, which in hindsight may have been a tad ambitious for a first foray into building kits! In at the deep end I guess!
I’ve done lots of railway repaints, weathering etc but now branching out into kit building. Anyway, I did say a short intro so I’ll shut up now!

Hello and welcome
If I may suggest, find a topic you like and buy a Tamiya kit.
They are usually very well engineered and fit together well with much less fiddling.
If you are not a member, scalemates.com is an excellent resource for looking up available kits and recording what you have in your stash to avoid buying the same kit twice
Happy to have you join the forum

If only scalemates had a phone app....that would be very convenient and useful. Can imagine the hobby shop everyone nose down researching away.

Howdo and welcome!
I watch a couple of model railway YT channels, even though I have no interest in having my own. I like the historical aspect of it, especially when they do stuff from the 80's. Also the railway guys know how to scratchbuild scenery and buildings and so on, and those skills can be transferrable, so I watch them. Also nothing like watching a class 50 in NSE livery rattling around a track for a while.
As for your truck... good luck! Although as others have said, I would have probably started with a smaller Tamiya kit, but hope that the truck doesn't put you off model making.
Welcome.
