Hi from the Netherlands

Post by Kratilim »

Hello everybody,

I'm 35 and I'm from the Netherlands. I joined this form after hearing from of from a colleague (don't know his name on here though). I've come back to scale modelling after 20 years and I'm wondering why I ever stopped doing it :). I'm currently applying the decals on an Airfix Fokker EII Eindecker 1/72.

While modelling can be difficult for lots of people, I have an extra handicap that makes things very difficult sometimes. I suffer from a condition something called Essential Tremor. This means that my hands tremble when I do things that require precision or when I'm stressed or something like that. Sometimes my hand literally moves about 1 cm back and forth in rapidly when I'm anxious like just now when I was applying decals, afraid to mess it up. As you can imagine, this can make doing certain things in this hobby very difficult.

I hope to learn a lot from you guys and maybe find ways to help me do this hobby I love without it getting frustrating like fixating stuff so I don't have to hold it with one hand etc.

Cheers and happy modelling!

Sorry to hear of your struggles. I hope you can continue to enjoy the hobby and this forum.

As for the forum - just get stuck in Sir. Comment on builds and get your own threads going. Nothing but good positive people on here so don't hold back :th: :th:
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Don't worry no one hear is critical or makes comments unless you invite it. My hands often shake when trying to do precise work as well, but not as much as you probably 1/2cm. It's like trying to hit a moving target.

Hello and Welcome!

For me I'm not sure if it is moving hands or moving eyes....

No worries from any of us, remember that it is suppose to be for your enjoyment first. Have no fear here as you are among your peers.

As they say, strap in and enjoy your ride......
