Airfix 1/72 Boulton Paul Defiant (starter kit)

Hey ppl,

Having the day off today, I started work on Airfix's starter kit of the Boulton Paul Defiant. It's going quite well, although I have a few small things I need to do (like fix a few cockpit paint things). As you'll be able to see in the pictures. The fuselage halves went together well, but there's the ever so slight height difference. That's quite common, right? The best way to fix that is by sanding and polishing I'm guessing? A colleague of mine gave me the tip to use tape to mask off the detail so I don't shave that off at least. Same goes for the wing edges, you can see that there's a small edge/seam there. Same thing as the fuselage?

Any other/additional tips would be awesome.

My advice would be to test fit the parts before committing to glue. Hope this helps

More progress! Test fitted the parts of today and glued after I was satisfied as suggested. Sanded the visible seams and started prepping for painting. I don't airbrush, so I'm going to have to think of a way to mask the camo. I'll think of something.

Looking good thus far :) And nice to find some one else who still uses the normal brush!! :)
When you finish this one - will you be investing in the new 1/48 scale that Airfix are releasing in the summer??

Thanks! I might go to airbrush eventually, but at the moment brushing works fine and is less of an investment. And I might pickup the 1/48th scale version later on. But there's too much other cool stuff I'd like to build :).

Some pilot painting for today. I overhanded the white drybrushing a bit, even though it's more pronounced on the photo. I'll likely do it with a light brown next time instead. A lighter colour of the base colour generally works better than plain white in most cases.
