1/35 Tamiya Tiger I ausf E (late) Diorama

I've been working on this project on and off amongst other builds since last February but I'm finally calling it done and will deliver it to my brother when we're all allowed out of solitary confinement

This is Tamiya's 1/35 Tamiya I ausf E (late) and is the edition which came with the elite crew included, and the tracks are from AFV Club. The figures on the engine deck are from the field maintenance set, the shouty NCO is from the tank crew at rest set and the infantry are from the machine gun crew on manoeuvres set. The fuel drums and jerry cans are also Tamiya, but the barrel & assorted tools are from Miniart. Finally the base is by Diodump.

Painting has been done with Ultimate primers, Vallejo Model Air & Model Colour, Andrea, Scale 75 & Lifecolour and weathering was done with a combination of clay washes, oils and ground scatter again from Diodump.

I was actually surprised to realise this was my first 1/35 Tiger build but very happy with how it turned out.

What a great scene - everybody's doing something and it tells a small story. Fantastic. Finish on the Tiger is great too, and the camo on the Tiger crew uniforms. Superb.

Wow.... great detail and you make a diorama pop because it tells a story... Nice paint detail on the figures I just started doing armor and it has endless possibilities for dioramas, your's is inspirational!

Thanks mate - funny you should mention about "wasted space" as I kept looking at some of the "spare" room and thinking "I wonder if I could get a Kubelwagen or Kettenkrad in there..."

Beautiful diorama Neil, absolutely top quality. Great camo and weathering on the Tiger. The figures are beautifully painted and well positioned and the whole scene tells a story. For me, the thing that makes a truly great dio is the attention to detail and this one is packed with details by the spadeful. The ladder, the bird, the tools, right down to the weeds and moss growing in the gutter and the grate.

It was diorama's like this I used to wonder over, in the then Military Modelling magazine as a teenager

Yep it was those old dioramas in the MM mag and also in the old Tamiya catalogues that have always been a source of inspiration
