This is the first model I’ve tried my hand at weathering. Dry brushing, scratching. I should also mention that I don’t have an airbrush and I do this on the kitchen table, on a towel.

It was about this time that I realised I should have masked the canopy.

And somehow got a cracked effect on the underside when I put a clear coat on.

So that’s where the Beaufighter is up to. I’m still faffing about with the weathering, but not much more. Trying to restrain overworking it.

There’s plenty of errors. I forgot to make holes for a couple of antennas, there’s supposed to be some on the wings but I broke them and threw them in the bin.
Several of the decals are either torn or crookedly applied. I tried using Mr Mark Softer for the first time and over did it. Lesson learnt after the forth decal tore.

Join the airbrushless club sir!! I use the workstation the PC etc sits on... And a bit of the adjacent dining table much to the wifes annoyance...

Thanks Paul.
I’m about to tinker with it a bit more now, just a few bits that I’m not happy with, then I’m calling it done.

Yep you've done a good job putting that Beaufighter together
It's a shame about that crazing underneath though - maybe the colour coat hadn't dried fully before you put the top coat on? Let us know what paint/clear coats you're using and someone may have some experience that might help.
Just one thing is it looks like you're posting up images directly to the forum which uses up a lot of bandwidth & space etc so the approved method is to post them up on something like Flickr and then link to the forum. Matthew (bfrd) created a really neat interface to make that easier so maybe take a look at this:
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=25080
And feel free to ask any questions - someone will most likely have the answers

Thanks Neil.
The clear coat was Mr Hobby, Top Coat, flat matt. Could be correct re previous coat not dried fully. I was trying to ‘finish’ on Sunday afternoon, probably rushed it.
And sorry about the images. I’ll read the link and sort it.

Nicely finished off

and the pics look good too
I've not used the top coat you mentioned there but yeah I've got the same habit of wanting to get things finished sometimes and not leaving stuff to dry properly; the upper surfaces look great though
Looking forward to seeing more of your work
