Father's day decision! Revell Aqua Colors

Post by PeterW »

Howdy,

Son gave me this Revell kit, and I am unsure regarding the quality of their own Revell paints?

Does anyone have any experience of these 'Aqua' paints which they recommend?

They are called 'Acryl' paints, but should only be water-thinned, and not used with Acrylic thinners.

Should I try and use another paint supplier? Tamiya? I would have to guess on the nearest colour match.

Thoughts?

Cheers

I've not used them myself, but I seen a fella on YouTube use them, but only for some detail painting. They seemed to cover quite well.

Though hopefully someone with more experience can chime in!

They are OK through an airbrush and GREAT for hand painting. I prefer MRP & Tamiya but lacquers are not everyone's cup of tea!

I have just noticed that you said that you would have to "guess" the colour match. There is a GREAT app available to download to your phone called "Hobby Color Converter". So you can look at the recommended colour from the instructions and it will show the equivalent from other manufacturers.

PS: Check out ScaleMates.com its a FREE model kit resource and SO much more!

Just downloaded it. Excellent :cheers2:

ScaleMates looks handy, I'll explore that too.

Many thanks
