Hey guys,

time for my next build, this time I've decided on the F100 XLT from Moebius. I'm going to build this one as a custom cruiser rather than stock. Ive decided on Gravity colors Porsche Acid green & Ford diamond white with whitewall chrome steelies, I've also ordered a chrome billet steering wheel & column along with a few other engine details from Detail Master.

This is the first Moebius kit Ive done & I'm mighty impressed, the crispness and detail are superb and the fit is seamless, so far I've got the body, chassis and engine parts together. Tomorrow I'm hoping to knock over the priming and can then start on the colour

So far this has been a really fun build.

Looking good! I'm interested to see your paint scheme and customizing. I've got some of the Moebius kits-- Hudson Hornets, a Chrysler 300b, and a Ford 4x4 (though I haven't built any of them yet), and the molding is beautiful. Its nice to hear that the parts fit well, too. They should be a treat to build after so many AMT kits.

Cool Jesse.. I'll be following this one. What year is this truck? My grandfather had one similar while I was growing up in the 70s and 80s.. his was closer to the color you are going to use.

Do they still make Moebius kits? Last I heard they shut down.

thanks mate! nice, id love to see you build some of them, I've been looking at both the hornet & 300b this week & I'm thinking I'll buy both of them due to how well the F100 goes together.

Yeah.. I learned how to drive in that truck. Had to shift the "H" pattern on the steering column. I loved it. It was a 60s model.. I'll have to ask my dad if he remembers the year but from my research it seems to be late 60s.

Yeah.. I learned how to drive in that truck. Had to shift the "H" pattern on the steering column. I loved it. It was a 60s model.. I'll have to ask my dad if he remembers the year but from my research it seems to be late 60s.

That’s so cool haha, I’ve also got the Revell 66 Chevy Fleetside pickup that I’m tempted to crack open & build alongside this one

got all the fun stuff done over the past couple of days body sanded, panel lines scribed and then primed, used mr surfacer 1200 this time, wow is this stuff great, does on so smooth and the coverage is great. The gravity colors primer is good but is so thin compared to this.

Interior primed in Mr surfacer as well.

Chassis, running gear and engine all primed in Tamiya LP semi gloss black, man I love the LP range, sprays so nice, great coverage and a small amount goes a long way. If anyone hasn't used it yet then you're missing out, its sooo good

Looking good! I've been painting myself, but it's so humid here, I have to leave the paint (various acrylics) alone at least a couple of days before doing anything on top of it.

mate thinned with MLT 50:50 and it sprays a dream! Don't give upon it just yet or you'll regret it lol

Managed to get a bit more done today, body & interior painted in Gravity Colors Ford Diamond White, the light from the cardboard makes the body look kinda beige, it is definitely white though lol. The top half will be white & bottom half in Gravity Colors Acid Green, as well as the seat centres, door panel centres and some of the dashboard.




Engine block painted in model master ford engine blue, the rest will be black & Alclad chrome


Transmission in SMS aluminum, I also did the tail shaft in SMS steel.


I also painted the exhaust, valve covers & starter motor in Alclad gloss black ready for Alclad chrome which I'm hoping to get done tomorrow.

This is coming along pretty quickly and its all fitting together nicely, its such a beautiful kit!

Hey blokes,

managed to get a few hours of spare time so did a bit more on the F100.

Chrome work sprayed with Alclad chrome, pretty happy with how they turned out.

Door & seat inserts along with a couple of spots on the dash sprayed with Gravity Colors Acid Green, just need to add a few chrome & black details & they'll be done.


Some more of the engine assembled, just need to add a few extra chrome parts & wire it up.

Carpet in the cab done using white embossing powder, first time using it as I've always used flocking, it so much better & you don't get hairy crap everywhere.


Will try & get the rest of the body painted tomorrow along with a few other odds & ends.

Looking good so far!! The finished model promises to be excellent.

Having gone through 3 Moebius kits in quick succession with a fourth in the wings it seems to me the newer kits are REALLY good - but the older ones are - to put it mildly - dire!! The new Galactica and the Viper have gone together really well but the original Galactica is still being worked on to cure "fit 'n finish" issues (read that as gaping voids ).

Question - what is embossing powder?? I've never heard of that before.....

Coming along nicely!! The paint really brings out the surface detail of the parts.

Wow Jesse! That all looks great. Love the chrome and how you detailed the interior.

I'm also curious as to what embossing powder is. It looks great. The green is going to look insane on the body! I can't wait to see it.

Neil I’ve been following your battlestar builds and it’s disappointing to see how much Moebius dropped the ball with their earlier models as the newer ones are absolutely flawless. Mind you I think you’re killing it & cant wait to see the end result.

Thanks Joe, I’m really happy with the green, it’s a lot brighter than I expected & it really pops with the white.
Embossing powder is used in a lot of craft work, it’s almost like a coloured sand compared to the fluff like flocking. It’s cheap & doesn’t get fluffy crap over everything

hey blokes, got a bit more done over the past few days.

Body sprayed in Gravity colors Porsche acid green & Ford diamond white, then cleared in Gravity colors 2K, just need to add all the chrome accessories & the body is done.

Just need to lower it a bit


Engine finished & wired up


Interior nearly completed, just need to add the billet steering wheel, hot rod gauges and a bit of black on some of the dash, just waiting for them to arrive from Detail Master.


Clear coat will be cured tomorrow so will get all the chrome work and tray bed done.

Thanks Chris! Nah they’re Pegasus wheels and I just left the factory chrome on it, I did contemplate using alclad lol but it’s really nice chrome so I left it

Haha Luke the only reason I’m getting a lot of time to work on it is I’m on holidays, it’ll slow down when I’m back at work

Hey blokes, been a while since I've done an update, been busy with a lot of other things and haven't had as much time as I would've like for smashing plastic.

Have managed to get all the chrome trim done and body lowered, used a pretty simple way of lowering it, I had some aluminium tubing which I CA glue into the rim which has actually worked out well.




The exhaust was just plastic rod coming out the side of the body and looked really lame, knock up an exhaust tip using 2 sizes of aluminium tube pushed together, came out pretty good.



Wasn't happy with the dash, stripped back by just brushing on MLT and it was cleaned off in less than a minute, great easy way of stripping paint. Now to re paint it again

Not much left to do to finish it off, still waiting on the billet pieces from detail master which hopefully should arrive soon.

It’s a really nice kit, everything is crisp and well detailed, it goes together beautifully, the only issue I’ve had is with the front and back windows, they were a bit of a pain and had to trim/scrape them back a tad
