Global Scale Modeller

Hello all,

I'm new to this site and wanted to do a quick intro. I have been modelling on and off since I was a kid, but have gotten a little more serious in the past two years. I absolutely love modelling and think it is such a cool form of art. I've been amassing a library of books mainly off of AK-Interactive's site, and have learned most of what I know so far off of there. I still consider myself very much a novice. I love 35th scale dioramas, and have recently gotten into 12th scale motorcycles. I would LOVE to learn how to work on multi-media kits such as the full-detail Model Factory Hiro kits.
Here is my latest build(Brach Model BM-VR03), it was my first attempt at an all resin kit, and is not at all historically accurate (I used my artistic license here). Also, I need to fix a number of hoses and small bits that broke off. Currently I am working on another Brach Model motorcycle (BM-VR05)

Good morning, neighbor! I just joined up a month or so ago myself, from the Colorado side of the Four Corners. I don't do bikes (cars and armor, mostly), but that looks great! Would like to see more of your work. I came back to the hobby a couple years ago after watching YouTube videos from another Arizonan, Andy, of Andy's Hobby Headquarters, in Phoenix. Have you been to his store? It's on my to do list. Great bunch of folks here as well! Enjoy your time!

I have a current bike fetish as well and there are lots of bike builds on here.
Looking to scratch out a 1/12 or 1/9 Indian Board Track Racer...hopefully one day

I actually moved down here around a year and a half ago from CO. It's been nice being able to swing by Andys shop in person! He recently expanded his store, its great, he has a bunch of giant 32nd scale aircraft hanging up in there.

I'm a sucker for the MFH kits, I've had my eye on their 1/9th scale motorcycles.....I just dont know how to work with that white metal yet. Scratch building is another level though, I've seen some gorgeous works out there. If you like bikes, I built a couple of the Tamiya RC166 bikes with all the detail up parts, those were great and I'd highly recommend! Im having fun with the Brach kits, they have gorgeous detail, but there is a slight learning curve with the resin

I prefer the white metal kits to the resin, done a Revival Bugatti and some Pochers
Often you have to drill or tap any screw holes and such or you can break stuff, but it looks great and I worry about resin dust in lungs long term
One guy showed a jewelry tumbler that he used to help polish the metal before he built the kit.
Yes there are a few MFH kits I would like to have, but $$$$$$$!!!!

I'll have to check out your other posts. Those kits are expensive, but they're gorgeous! I think I may have seen that same guy working on a 1/12 Porsche utilizing the tumbler.
Its funny you mention the resin dust, that was my hesitation as well. I actually managed to do that bike with zero sanding haha. Just some scribing work with the hobby knife.
