Hi, me again

Thought I'd get straight into something else, but not a bike this time.
A kit I had a go of when i first started out modelling but made a right mess of (first time using 2k ).

The decals are good fun and are easier than it looks, with it being a full car wrap. So I'll try and show it in stages.

Also, i recently aquired a Konica Minolta RC211 but it had been butchered. However, I've now managed to get hold of the parts I need to make a complete kit.

That'll be done probably after the Mercedes, so I guess the Fireblade will have to wait lol.

If only I knew back then.
Saying that though, hopefully with more experience behind my belt now, this time round the outcome may be better.

I was quite fortunate. One popped up for sale on Facebook, £40 shipped. I couldn't believe my luck

Paints have arrived, let the body work commence!

Body painted ready for a quick clearcoat for laying down the decals.

Luckily some of the decals will cover up some mould lines which decided to show up after I did the base colours.
Checked unpainted plastic - couldn't see mould lines

Looking smoooooth! I'll be keeping an eye on this one!

Laid down 2 of the biggest decals tonight. As expected, they went down without any problems. A bit of cutting to do on the window seal but a new sharp blade will sort that out.



To be honest though, you do need to enjoy decalling or these schemes would drive you nuts, 1 hour doing 2 decals lol.

Busy morning, got one side nearly decalled up
Will need to get a close paint match for the grey to touch up a couple places.

Got a model club Zoom meeting tonight, so that side should get finished off.

The decal work is amazing

Calling it a night, as the left side of the car is fully decalled and started working my way around the back end.

I also did forget that the 2 small decals on the bonnet are an absolute nightmare

Finished decalling the rear end today. Pretty happy with the result, except the 'made' in 'made in Germany' is off. But it was either that or the white overlapping the blue, so i chose the less noticeable one. In hindsight, putting the decals on in reverse order would have been the answer.

So much busy decal wo4k going on, one not perfect will only be seen by you

If you are going to clear coat it, has to be a 2K clear. Any of the others will eat your decals raw!

Agree on the clearcoat, I'll be using Gravity Color 2k.

You've done a great job on those decals! Can't wait to see it with the clear coat down.

You have to love eBay sometimes. In the kit for the front Mercedes badge, you're just supplied with a metal sticker, like you get for wing mirrors.
So I just randomly typed 1/24 Mercedes badge in Google and someone in Russia actually produces metal ones in 1/24 scale. Came to £6.50 including postage, some may say that's a lot but it should make a big difference when applied to the bonnet

Small update on this build. All but a couple decals are down on the body. But this build has completely sapped my mojo lol.
This will be put aside (not onto the shelf of doom ) and I'll be building the Tamiya Fireblade.
That should recharge the mojo and I should get back into this one.

Nice work on the decals, it’s a beast of a scheme. Look forward to seeing more progress

Sorry to hear it. I've been in the situation where there are so many decals it just seems to never end!
I've never built a DTM car as they always seem to sell for so much. I hope yours works out in the end.
