Surrender at Iserlohn 1945 - Tamiya 1/48 Jagtiger +

Post by Quax »

I'm probably going to regret this but I'm going to have a go at a dio based on the surrender of the 512 schwere panzerjäger abteilung at Iserlohn although it will be in 1/48 so as I have a bit of room, the details might be a little light on facts but I wont tell if you dont! If you want to know a bit about the real thing then go here:

I'm still waiting for a sd.kfz 251 to arrive plus one or two other bits, but so far I have

ok here we go with the first clip together Jagdtiger, how I wish other kit makers could be engineered like this! :wtf:

and there you have it....There are some pushout pin marks on he hull sides but they disappear under the skirts so only need dealing with if you intend to do surgery. The top of the hull is still detachable for painting, the details are all good with no flash even though its now 10 years old and its a dream to assemble. I would recommend this to anyone thinking of a first armoured vehicle, even in 1/48th its almost bigger than a Pz III

Blimey, that came together nice and quick. Still a good size for a smaller scale kit. Love the slab sided shape of the JT, its just badass! Bonkers but nasty with it.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

so next up in this travesty is:
Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

I will of course be painting it in the colours of the largest Wehrmacht division "Unit Unknown" which fought gloriously on all fronts and often changed sides....

Image

My secret weapon has also arrived from China - 100 O gauge people.... Unfortunately O gauge is about 1/42 so it looks like the allies have invaded the Land of Giants but its not too bad and I'm going to apply the Father Ted theory of "that is far away Dougal..." Some might need a coat of paint and all look like they're the Nazi's from Raiders of the Lost Ark with melted faces but....

Image

Image

my only worry now is just how big this might end up....

cheers

Wow those JagdTigers came together really quickly - hopefully the half-track will be similarly well behaved.

Fascinated to find out what you've got planned with all those civilians too...

Thanks Digger and Neil :cheers2:

Interestingly the halftrack is not quite as good as the JT and in some places the instructions were a little vague, I had to detach a couple of bits and restick... :shifty: I also found that the tracks didn't quite fit (although I am so poor at link and length it was probably me!)

Beautiful paint coverage. I keep forgetting its 1/48. The paint job is really beating the scale effect by not being too dark as a base.

Would you say it was ambushed with splodges? :D I think it looks good. The purpose of the effect was too imitate light passing thru a tree canopy so more spots would accomplish that better, I would think. The next step from this camo was the disk camo which definitely had more spots.

I like that you did the ambush pattern on one and not the other also.
