Starting this one, first foray in to workable suspension/tracks...



most likely plan is for a what if pixel scheme (unsure of colours as yet)

ok so some progress... workable suspension was a pain so thats fixed but the workable tracks are going together nicely...

progress. One side of tracks done (workable tracks went together nicely with only a few casualties) and the running gear done. On to the upper hull now.

It's a awesome looking bit of gear and the kit looks like it's going to match the real thing. The tracks look the biz

thanks all.. both tracks completed - and 81 links/side seems about right. Have moved on to the upper hull and attached it to the lower... nice fit. Still not sure on the paint job this will get but so far so good

More progress, side units mounted, now on to the protective parts on the engine deck

nearly at the turret.... more work on the hull... the hatches are a multi-part assembly but build up really nice. Also done the side skirts, think I need to paint the wheels/lower hull/tracks (still think there is 1 too many link as well) soon then add the side skirts before the digital scheme (on this, I have primed up a plastic tub to allow me to trial the colour scheme - think the NATO green is too dark so need to see (plan to fade each colour as I go rather than at the end when all painted)....

onto the turret.... keeping the weapons system separate from the turret to aid the digital camo. So far so good... building up nicely

new year I am afraid... .mind dont know what colour to do - it will be digital scheme and have though 4-colour caunter (Khaki green, slate, silver, portland stone) desert type scheme

wahoo.... primer on. Next step will be portland stone on the lower hull & wheels (allowing side skirts to be glued on ahead of full digital scheme... as said, this is 100% what-if scheme

first colour of digital scheme - Khaki Green no 4 (and faded with a touch of light grey)... really nice base, next up slate grey I believe - probably a few weeks for that as



a) I need to cut out all the digital masks

b) I need to get my son back to uni

Wicked looking machine. So many angles and reliefs to this serous machine of war. The painting compliments it hugely....nicely done

cheers... going to start prepping the masks for the digital scheme today, hope to get at least 1 if not all 3 colours painted this weekend

first round of the pixel masking applied - not sticking very well so likely to be soft edged.... next colour will be slate grey...

changed it... switched to tamiya tape (1cm)... big parts are 5mm x 5mm and then a few smaller 2mm x 2mm... squares are bigger but think this is better (especially in terms of sticking to the kit - vinyl just wasnt adhering

Shame the mask wasn't adhering. Still Tamiya tape always sticks well. Going to look awesome when finished.

thanks all.... have thought that as this is a what-if scheme I am going with a British Army unit in the desert circa 2020 - so they decided the Caunter colours were good for pixel scheme but harking back to WWII used some of their markings (so will use some Matilda decals - or make my own)....

ok so second colour on - Slate and again a lightening of it with light grey... next up silver grey

Silver grey now added.... all masked up for final Portland Stone and reveal tomorrow... thinking of masking white & red stripes on the front (a la Matilda) and using one of the name decals from the Tamiya kit to give it that "what if the British Army had Terminators and a war in the desert)...

thanks all for the encouragement... and she is uncovered.... sadly pleased with how this turned out (photos are a little browner than the actual thing) - only 1 part needs to be touched up and that is a small part where the paint lifted off the PE grill. Next up I will do the red/white markings on the side skirt (a la Matilda).

thanks all... and now she has British markings (need to gloss up so I can add the "Phantom" name.... totally what if but think it has that look and suits the scheme
