Sd kfz 232 Funk 6-Rad - Matchbox 1/76

Post by ForeverPlasticKits »

Hi guys.

For my YT channel (i will talk about it very soon in the dedicated topic) i've chosen the german armored car Sd kfz 232 Funk (radio version) 6-rad (6 wheels) :

The box (not in very good condition but only one little part is broken) :

It's a basic kit but to built it correctly some experience is necessary, and also the use of the new technics and products can make it better than "the old good time of our youth". In short this is the start :

A lot of sanding and cleaning is necessary, the putty and the Surfacer are very useful.

More photos of the progress, Matchbox forgot some very visible details :

- first i have to sand the angles of the front mudguards (the one in the left is done) :

- second the mud flaps are missing, however on each photo that i found they are in place.
An old aluminum foil (from food) helps me to create them :

A picture of this evening work, front mud flaps are the next and also the turret (the body has been cleaned :) ):

Many thanks.

After finishing the mud flaps i have to deal with the big antenna, and it wasn't so easy as i expected. The rear masts don't fit very well (the holes are too deep), so after gluing them to the body of the car i have to realign them with the big antenna. Once done the assembly is good. Also the turret has to be glue, otherwise the antenna pushes it to the back.
Are missing the headlights and the trunk lockers (the tyres will be paint apart, they aren't glued, only "patafixed") and the paint could be done :

I love these old matchbox kits with the dio bases - I built many of them as a kid a loooooong time ago and they were what got me back into the hobby again a few years ago.

Nice work putting this together & tidying it up - I'm really looking forward to seeing how you paint it up.
Cheers, Neil

Many thanks, this brand with some easy and simple improvements is still very pleasant to built! :th:

I forgot 2 little details, the width indicators and the direction denouncers (the car flashing at that time) :

Some styrene rod, superglue, 1/35 pe parts and that's it!

Next is really the painting.
