Tamiya Subaru 05' WRC

Post by Ixlr8nz »

Tamiya Subaru finished. Out of the box build apart from carbon fibre decals and also had to change the chassis wheelbase to match the body. Paint is tamiya white primer then tamiya spray can mica blue, sprayed directly into my airbrush and onto the model. Then 2X decals for the fluro decals, then automotive 2k clear. Really happy with the result.

Damn, that turned out real nice man!

How far out was the wheelbase? Never heard of this problem with Tamiya kits before?

Thanks for the comments. Approx 2mm out wheelbase. I have seen multiple builds finished with this problem online. All I did was add a washer glued on top of the lower steering knuckle hole and did a small about of grinding on the front shocks. I will post some pictures soon of the situation.

Here is how I fixed the wheelbase issue. Very simple and also had to do a little grinding of the spring. Very unexpected of tamiya, however on reviewing many builds online, it is a common theme. Most people try to hide it by turning the steering, but I was not satisfied with that. I noticed even in the Tamiya model magazine feb 2006 which has this model reviewed, the person turned the steering to hide it 😀.
