Resources for Luftwaffe markings and camouflage

Post by EirikB »

Hello all.

I realize that I am really trying to make it hard for my self.
Instead of using the decals that come with the kits I want to make versions that have some sort of local significance. I came across a 1/48 Junkers JU 88-kit - a plane widely used in the high Arctic during WW2.

I want to make this a specific aircraft that ended its "career" on Spritsbergen in June 1942. It was a part of Wekusta 5 with the markings 1B+GH. Are there a good online source of information on the camouflage patterns, markings/designs and other features of Luftwaffe airplanes of WW2? I can find bits and pieces of information, but i wonder if someone have a really good source of information that I have not found yet.

Interesting. I don't know of any "catch all" websites dedicated to that sort of thing. Though, it'd be really cool if one existed.

I did find this website. It's pretty basic; but, the info it provided helped decode exactly what all those markings mean. https://boomandzoomgraphics.com/german_camo_guide.html
