Another project on my bench along with a couple of others is my Bentley build, I have been building this for a couple of years and need to get it wrapped up. The car is all but finished but I'm working on a stand for it then it can have the finishing touches and weathering.
few pics of my progress........casp :)

I got both kits from the same seller but one was started so its for spares or repairs

Image

decals were in a right mess but managed to salvage the better of the two sets.

I got some thin leather for the coachwork but it wasnt the correct shade of green so I sprayed it Brunswick green with a rattle can before gluing to the part

If I was to build this again I would cut the door out and hinge them but on with the build.

the rear seat was a little flat so I heated the plastic and pushed the pads down
Image
To leather a seat its better to make the areas between the seat cushions deeper so you get a decent impression/depression? when adding the leather. Also give the parts a light sanding for a key.

:) Now to get rid of that chrome using thick bleach, the oven cleaner wouldn't touch it and it took two days to finally get them cleaned up

Alclad chrome, this stuff as you know goes on very thin and rubs off with the slightest touch
Image
slight difference between Acrylic chrome and Alclad chrome is very noticeable

How cool is this new guy hey
Awesome stuff...Bently, leather, real metal grill replacements I love it!!! :th:

My Airfix kit is parked in a cupboard at work under a sailing boat and a Fiat..awaiting its turn at the desk
Image

Your next challenge is to start re-lacing the plastic spokes into metal...that is actually quite fun once you get a jig and the proper materials

Image

Image

We can talk about it...though you probably are already doing it seeing your talents ;)

That's a beautiful build thus far- congratulations!! And a nice touch by your missus.
I built this OOB for my OH many years ago as she is crazy about 1930's Bentleys. If she had her way we'd have the real thing - sadly for her ambitions we are about £249,999 short of the asking price for one....

At our age- I'm 64, she's 71 - its unlikely :) And if that amount of money comes up - I have my eye on a nice T-80U with a live barrel @ £45,000

sorry matey, in my barrage of posting earlier I missed yours  omg I want your Fiat

I have been mulling over the idea of lacing the wheels as I have a second set but with everything else I have on the go it will take some time. A jig should be easy to print. I've had a go before in larger scale but sadly didn't finish the set, still have the jig a dear friend gave to me years ago, wish I had carried on with those.
that's as far as I got  but its been a good learning curve. My friend makes these to order

They look great  I might see if I can make a jig for the Bentley ones, not sure how easy the wheels will come off though  Looking at the model the tyres could do with some sponge in them, look like they need it
Just watched Paul,s video on the Magnifier 1/12 "US Sports Car Ford GT40 8-) I have to have one of those, what a bargain.
The Super Detailing Deluxe Pack for Trumpeter looks amazing 8-)

:hi: Thanks joe, up to speed now.
I have made a start on a stand today for the car to sit on out of ply and strips of wood then give the base a coat of PVA. Its a certain size due to the size of the cabinet it will eventually sit in so I'm a bit limited to what I can do. I have one or two simple diorama ideas but still undecided
