I'm new to airbrushes but I must say I didn't much like the 'feel' of my airbrush in the hand, it didn't feel secure somehow and the shiny surface made it feel quite slippery. I found a design for a clip-on handle on thingiverse which I find offers a much more secure grip and it points more naturally (for me anyway).

Yes, the printed parts need some work to get a finish on but you can get a surprising amount of detail:
