Tamiya Ducati 888 SB

Post by Kevthemodeller »

Apologies for the picture quality, new phone and I've buggered up the settings somehow :  and the odd bit of fluff/specks that drifted in while taking the pictures.

Overall a nice kit, not engineered as good as Tamiya's later offerings I think, but still nice. The fit is as you'd expect Tamiya to be although some are tight, I'd recommend you still test fit everything. Some of the decals (white No panels and figures especially) are either thin, flimsy and very, very brittle, or absolutely tuff as old boots.

Very happy with Tamiya lacquer paint and Mr Color GX100 super clear gloss :th: There's the odd spot in the paint which was mostly my fault and the odd gust of wind via the window, I have to hang the extractor out of. Metallics are a mix of Ammo Mig Metal, AK Extreme and Alclad 2, my first time using the latter. I must say they're superb. :th:

Really nice Kev, the paintwork looks great.

Any tips on the GX100, I've used it a couple of times but still trying to get to grips with it.

:cheers2: mate. The GX100 has to be thinned at least 40/60% thinners when using 0.4 needle, if you're using smaller then 70% or more, it's pretty thick stuff as you know. Light coats and then wet coat about 5mins between them, just watch your decals as it's quite hot due to all the thinner, that said I've not yet had a problem, works for me :th:
