Garage Kit - anyone heard of them?

Post by RangerNeil »

Looking on the Scalemates site for aftermarket bits for MPC's 1/48 Eagle Transporter I saw this:

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/garage- ... r--1319661

Apparently made by a company called "Garage Kits". Can't find them anywhere on the web and the kits cockpit consists of the bulkhead with two astronauts glued to it. Light on detail is an understatement!! So I'd really like to track one of these cockpit interiors down.
If anyone can point me in their direction it would be much appreciated!! :) :)

I thought that a garage kit was exactly that, a kit made by an individual in their "garage", low production run usually limited by how many copies they can make before the molds go to crap. Adam Savage has shown some very cool ones on his YouTube channel.

I think big wall is right. My brother used to buy resin Star Wars kits that were awesome from guys like this. Usually they do it for a while then disappears. or like one my brother knew, they get a letter asking them to stop or else... because of licensing.

Original term for kits (kit bashed) built in your garage on a budget, never heard of a specific company with that name selling kits  but you can buy garage kits online. Fantasy Realms do some great busts. http://fantasyrealms.uk/
Resin Kit do some incredible work http://www.resin-kit.com/

    Cheers guys. :)
Scalemates page just says "Garage Kit" in the manufacturer field so I just assumed that was the name of the company making it. Kind of like Celebrity Castings made the pod interior. Looks like I may to have give up on this one as most of these independent manufacturers are figures and busts. Found one firm doing bits other than that but primarily they cater for the Star Trek market.
A shame as the photos on Scalemate look really good.

Thanks for the link Casper. 😊
There's a couple of cockpit sections there - back wall and front consoles but none that I've seen so far with the side consoles too but I will keep looking. There's 10K results to get through. 😊😊
