Eggcelent choice there!

I built this one last year and aside from some tidying work on the seams it went together really well and the decals behaved nicely!

Got a nice start. I have most of the parts cleaned up. I thought the gun port needed something else, so i drilled it out and added some tube.

This little egg is going to be the end of me.

First off, let's just say that I drop parts often. So often that I keep a flashlight on my bench at all times.

Image

It is almost ALWAYS standing up so that I can easily grab it. A couple of nights ago I knocked it over while cleaning up seam lines on the egg build. This little light has a decent amount of weight to it and it sent parts everywhere. I found one of the intakes in a box UNDER my bench and other parts across the top of the bench. I have located all but two parts, one of the rockets, and one of the intake fans. I have spent hours looking. I even cleaned. This is where the second headache comes in. At some point during the cleaning process, I knocked over a bottle of extra thin superglue. I usually don't cap my super glue, but just leave the long-thin applicator tips on. This is not the first time I have knocked the bottle over, but it is the first time that I completely glued a part to the mat on my bench. One of the intakes is good and stuck. I have some de-bonder which I apply liberally to the mat. Both the mat and the part immediately begin to melt! WTF! I thought de-bonder was plastic safe. I was very wrong. Even says on the bottle "Attacks most plastics" really, really small, but it is on there. I got the intake off the mat, but the inside section of the intake is broken beyond repair.

I was about to hulk-smash the entire thing but decided to press on. The intake damage will just have to be present. I will take it to my trusty 3d printer and Fusion360 to make up the missing parts.

I will print them tonight (hopefully).

I do that all the time, parts flying off in all directions never to be seen again. Doesn't help when you have a coloured carpet
Thankfully you can print out the parts you need :) "hulk-smash the entire thing" I know that feeling :)

The rockets did not print well, but the intake fans are passable.

Got the main jet primed in Stynylrez black.

I used some white scribbles on the black for a marble coat. Top coat is light blue grey color.

I never cease to be amazed by just how far a teeny piece can bounce in a seemingly innocuous fall.

Great recovery with the 3d printed intakes and the paint-job is coming on nicely too :th:

As the kids cooler than me might say, it's "been a minute" since I last decaled anything. I broke a few and misplaced a few, but for this model it doesn't really matter that much.

Despite a few missing decals it's come out well.

He's much more street than he used to be.

Looks like a fun build. I'm going to have to get some eggs for next year.

She's up on her feet. A little wobbly, much like a newborn fawn.
