Ferrari F1 red paint code

Post by ryan81 »

Hi all, can anyone point me in the direction of a thread for the paint codes for the Ferrari F1 cars?

I paint with cans so would like to find the paint code and get it mixed at a local paint shop. However, I'm struggling to find many resources.

I have three kits, from 1989, 2001 and 2003 cars, which I believe are the same shade of red. I also have a 2017 car, which is recognisably different.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe contacting Ferrari themselves might get you the mixing codes you want.
I remember going into Halfords a number of years ago and asking for Ferrari Red. The guy in that particular shop asked me what year and model was it for and said that Ferrari reds changed a little according to the car. Naturally it was road cars he was referring to.

What does the instruction say about the paint to use?? That would be a good start

Tamiya makes a nice Italian Red in their TS cans...I decant it and airbrush it
Just used a Splash Repsol Red and it looks very nice on a Ferrari or Guards Red
My wife see a million colour shades, I think I am half that if I am lucky

The article below seems like a good starting point.

Apologies for the late response everyone. Thanks for the input!

I ended up testing a number of paints and primer combos, including TS-8 Italian Red, TS-49 Bright Red, Ferrari Rosso Corsa and Rosso Scuderia over white, grey and pink primers.

What I found was that TS-8 and Rosso Corsa match almost identically, likewise for TS-49 and Rosso Scuderia.

Based on reference pics, I settled with going for the less orange option, TS-8, on my F189. For the early 2000s Ferraris, I will then switch to the more orange TS-49
