Just something to pass the time whilst you heavy lifters lift heavy things...
It's quite a nice kit and so far comes together well although removing 164 sprue gates from the wheels was a chore...
All just placed so as I can remove for paint later.
Cheers all

Very cool! German running gear always takes awhile. The black peppercorns are quite a time saver. Much better than the white peppercorns.

You are definitely not alone Stokesy
So Das Werk/Takom kindly provide a jig for the link and length tracks which is good because I am really not good at these

this seemed to work well although the theory is that they go straight on the kit which of course I don't want to do so we'll see...
I removed all the tools and cables but will add towards the end of the build. Das Wek would have you remove the handle of the tool clamp and replace with a tiny bit of pe, as far as I can see the plastic is as good and I don't intend to do this as all that will actually happen is me swearing alot having cut off the bit then pinged a microscopic pe into oblivion...

So I have left them on
I ended the day giving everything so far cut off a good hose with Ultimate black just so as my compressor didn't feel left out..
Thanks for looking and for any tips on pepper sauce

Very nice Neil!
Both Neils do great builds without you praising them on mine - a guy could get a complex!
so now to my build......
The first real issue I seem to have come across with this kit is a mismold of the exhausts - it doesn't seem that I've missed a step because looking at photos on other peoples builds online the exhaust is complete
so I resorted to making a new bit out of Perfect putty and then reasonably shaping it, I then disguised the whole thing by stippling on some Mr Surfacer 500 so as I get a bit of texture - I think they'll pass and in anycase I throw everything in the bin at the end of the year so it wont offend too long
I gave the fans and the empty engine bay a quick squirt of a red so as anything that might be seen looks ok
and then semi completed the hull
there was a slight bit of filler needed where the glacis plates meet but otherwise all good and I started on the turret
until next time
Neil

Right! I'm an old fart now and the treatments I've had over the last two years have done nothing to help my mental capacity.

So I have in a moment of complete madness (and I know I said I wouldn't do it again but you know me...) to make some sort of diorama with a bit of old and new so bold on for the ride because Hans is back at the reins.so far the exhaust is OK
Started on the wood for the barrel cleaners plus other tools not shown
Added paint to the wheels to at least start...
The turret was primed and placed on the Hull, before I knew it Hans, Kurt and Oberfaffendorf had occupied the drivers seat...
I.point blank refused to build this
But it looks like this
I also decided to add this
Which in kit form looks like this...
How it will end who knows!

Moving along slowly

at the moment as the weather is just too nice for hiding at a bench...
Many thanks for kind comments earlier, so it's now coated in MMP dunkelgelb and Realcolors rotbraun along with a coat of AK semigloss from a can. I'm expecting the filters to darken this a bit.
Cheers

Thanks guys, just a little catchup as its been a) hot here and b) the footy has started (thats soccer to our continental cousins

)
I did some low level chipping and weathering before adding the Mig for Ammo washable and then washing quite a bit of it off, the intention being to remap with oils. The decals went on nicely and it was all given another coat of AK semi gloss to seal it in
Cheers

Gerhard was sent to a strafebatallion and his name now only mentioned to get small children to go to sleep....
Just a small update to show that I have now crawled to a state of full build and will start weathering it as if and when the mood grabs me

More top draw work there Paul,

the Dio base looks superb.

I know what you mean about the mojo. Between work and jobs around the house that have piled up due to Covid

I've not been near the bench for a few weeks now.

Hopefully today I'll get a chance.

Really great work. I haven't seen the kitchen get used before.
What did you use as snow and how did you get the color for the kitchen ? It is the perfect cast iron cooked on look.
Great dio
