Tamiya Yamaha YZF-R1

Post by MrBowcat »

Morning guys,

Just finished this one up at the weekend.

Overall a very enjoyable build, although I did run into issues at the end with the front cowling not fitting properly. I ended up stripping and repainting it, even then although better it still doesn't fit properly. Not sure if it's me or the kit??

If nothing else I was pleased with how the paint work came out. I'm slowly getting better at this

Lovely work mate! Just finished one myself, it's not you, the fairings don't fit very well.

I wish I checked that before I cut them and added magnets!

Very nicely done Mr B, the cowling on my version was a little awkward too.

Scott, photos are off my Google phone in the kitchen, more luck than judgement.

Mark, in a nutshell, yes. The missus happened to mention Fathers day is coming up and what did I want. After a quick browse I've settled on the Kawasaki H2 Carbon, and I'm planning on pushing my skills a bit by getting the Hobby Design detail up kit. Not sure if I am quite mad with that plan, the chain alone looks to be a couple of hundred parts. :eeek:

In the meantime I've got a 1/35 M38A1 on the bench as a bit of light relief after all the cars and bikes, and I've just bought myself a metal lathe which I'm picking up next week so that should keep me busy until Fathers day.
