Global Scale Modeller

Been working on this for a little bit now. I didn't get many photos of the initial stages, but I shot a few tonight after shooting some primer. On that topic, I used the Model Master Acrylic primer for the first time tonight and I must say it covers about as good as the tamiya rattle can primer I have been using. Tomorrow I'll start shooting the colors.

Well, I finally found some time to get a little paint on. Got the pre shading done for the white and medium blues. I found it doesn't really show up well with the darker blues so I'm going to try my hand at post shading with this one. Got the white laid on as well. I'm using the same Model Master Acrylic paints that i used for the Eduard hellcat.

PS, I'm definately no photographer, so you'll have to bare with my simple point and shoot shots

What do you have that stick attached with up in the shnoze? CA, sticky stuff?
Is the model master's a can or paint jar? that can is awesome, but it's running out and aint' cheap!

the model master is a jar. i airbrushed it. I like the coverage quite a bit. I just jammed a toothpick up the prop hole seems to be holding just fine

Bummer of an update. I spent the weekend getting the paint down. Everything was going fine until I took the masks off and a whole bunch of paint chunks came with it. Right down to the bare plastic. Now i'll try to feather the edges where the paint is missin and mask and respray. I really hope this goes well. I was hoping to get the clear coat on and some decaling started tonight. Ah well, can't win them all

Ah crap Greg, that's gutting. get your self some of the ak primer it's much better stuff.

Yah, I have a couple of ideas on how to fix, but I'm still worried if I do more masking, more paint is going to come with it. Any ideas on the matter? I had to walk away from for the night before it became airborne

All i could suggest is loose as much tackyness of the tape before sticking it down, i put the strip on the palm of my hand a couple or times, i assume it tamiya tape your using?

It is tamiya tape i'm using. i'll give it a shot. And I'm not too sure Mike. It's the only variable thats changed at all, so possibly.

LET IT DRY! There is no more important advise than that. Just to be on the safe side, I let my primer dry for 48 hours and have had great results. Also, make sure you wash the plastic with some mild soapy water prior to assembly as this may remove any releasing agents left behind in the mold process, and may cause adhesion problems for the primer.

I let the primer dry for a week before starting that paint. Truthfully after talking to a few folks I think all the fault lay with me. I didn't give it a good scrub before laying primer. However after some frustration, a few choice words and the model almost taking flight, I persisted and showed the corsair who's who in this fickle relationship. So I'm finally at the point for decals. 3 coats of gloss went on last night. I'll let it harden for another day and start decals tomorrow.

what clear coat do you use? I ended up picking up some of the badger. figured I'd give it a shot.

Well usually i like to use the model master but as you know we're out of it at the moment. So I tried the micro scale stuff. I quite like it

After some swears and stuff the Corsair is finally finished. There are some things I'm not to happy about, but short of getting out the can of easy-off, it's good for me. I'll post some more pics in the ready for inspection folder.
