Well Hello

Post by luc75 »

Hi.

Just saying hello.
Just got back in modelling after a 30+ year break. Wow the prices have changed a bit :jd: Got myself a little stash going of a couple bikes and cars to build.
Just finished my first project of turning a Repsol Honda RC213V'14 in to Cal Crutchlow's CWM LCR Honda '15.

Hopefully will add more posts and pictures of builds as we go.

Luke

Hello and :welcome: to the ISM forum Luke

When you get a moment please check out the forum guidelines which can be found ---> here

We'd love to see your work & progress but in order to post photos you will need to host them on an external site such as Flickr and then link to them from the forum. Unfortunately the forum currently doesn't have sufficient capacity or bandwidth to host directly uploaded photos.

There is a quick guide on how to use the Flickr integration on the forum ---> here

As well as the forum boards there is a really useful Modeller Toolkit available which can help with paint matching, paint thinning, glue types & a scale calculator that can be found ---> here

We're also running a number of group builds & special interest groups through the year so feel free to enter any of those that you like the look of.

Otherwise take a look around and join in, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Have fun!
Cheers, Neil

I too was a bit shocked at kit prices when I returned to modeling a couple years ago. I started with reissued AMT and Revell pickup truck kits that were mostly under $25, and thought they were pricey for the quality of the kit, and wondered why people were paying much higher prices for kits from other manufacturers. Eventually, I got a couple newer, more expensive kits from manufacturers using new tools and modern molding technologies, and was amazed at the difference in kit quality, detail, and value. Now I was no longer spending hours cleaning up poorly molded parts and trying to get them to fit together properly, but actually enjoying the assembly process. And the challenge is still there in the form of well molded, but tiny detail parts that don't need to be cleaned up or reshaped, but require patience and a delicate touch to get into place.
