I'd like to join in with a Bandai 1/72 First Order TIE Fighter. I built the First Order Special Forces TIE some time ago and figured this would be a good companion to it.

It is suppose to rain later today, so hopefully I will get a chance to make a decent start on the kit.

Nice choice - looking forwards to seeing this come together.

For some reason I'm always slightly thrown by just how big the "solar wings" are on these things compared to the cockpit ball.

I've been working away on this in my spare time, and finally have some time to post my progress.

Image

The cockpit parts painted, washed, and drybrushed.

The pilot and instrument panels. The pilot was painted flat black, the armor pieces of is uniform were brushed with clear gloss, while the fabric areas were drybrushed with dark grey. The details were painted with medium grey, silver and clear red and blue. The instrument panels were painted while, washed, and drybrushed as well and the decals applied. After they set, the decals were coated with clear red, orange, yellow or green.

The completed cockpit tub.

The completed cockpit assembly. Very little of all the decals and detail work will be visible on the finished model.

Not a fan of the Disney Star Wars but the plastic kits are very interesting, have fun finished it! :thumb2:

I have been working away on this, and finally have it finished. Once the cockpit pod was assembled, everything was pretty much straight forward, paint and snap subassemblies together. While that was going on I got the base primed and preshaded with some Tamiya red brown, then oversprayed with XF 92 Africa Yellow, then lightened that with some yellow and white for the highlights.

Thank you all for your interest in the build, I enjoyed being a part of this group build and actually finishing a kit! :th:
