Question for you model builders out there. I was thinking about making my own masks for my model painting. I was thinking of either a Cricut Cutter or a Silhouette. Does anyone out here use either? If so which would be better to own.

You need to read this good guide. I also remember the cheaper one had difficulty with the smallest possible shape and wouldn't cut them cleanly.

Got this off amazon reviews....I believe they changed there policy about uploading images back to free status.

I want a machine to cut out my own designs from photoshop/illustrator, I'm not interested in any of the library images etc. Can this do this, well?
Answer:
The company wanted to charge a monthly subscription fee for owners to upload designs, but they received massive complaints from users causing them to rescind their stance and will continue to allow unlimited uploads. As of 3/27/2021, Cricut will continue to allow owners and users to upload unlimited designs in Design Space at no additional cost. see less

I’m sorry I didn’t read this before buying a Cricut. I bought mine in March 2021 and just now getting the chance to use it. I’m now disappointed bc there are very few images without spending a dollar or more on each image! Dang! What a waste of money. Not recommending this machine bc of this reason. Who wants to spend this much for limited fonts and images.!!! I should have research this better before buying. In fact, cricut falsely advertises there are thousands of images and fonts…they fail to say you have to buy them. I found one app that I downloaded that had the same fonts you use through your own phone/tablet, as cricut, but…it charges $29.99 a month for all the good fonts…deleted it immediately. If I was going to use this cricut commercially, it would be worth it, but I bought mine to use as a hobby…took me 4 months to have time just to get it out of the box…waste of money! see less

Not anymore! They now want to charge you in order to upload images. The software is utter crap and now you have to subscribe (and pay) in order to even use the machine! Buy a silhouette, it is essentially the same machine and you won’t have to pay each month to use it!
