Hi Everyone

This is a M1 IP "Abrams", Panda model, scale 1/35

Model made strait out of the box, painted with Hataka acrylics paint.
Backpacks and the rest of the crew's equipment comes from the Tamyi kit.

Painting and marking are from the 1987 Canadian Army Trophy

The Canadian Army Trophy (CAT) competition was an international tournament of NATO tank crews in Western Europe.

The 1987 competition was held on June 15-19, 1987 in Grafenwöhr. 24 tank platoons from six participating countries (Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States) entered the competition.

The 1987 tournament was the first time the United States took first place since competing in 1977.

He's from the comic strip Bloom County for those that don't know.

Very nice painting and weathering! I love the Bill the Cat decal as well. Bloom County was one of the best comic strips ever.

I was the loader on this specific tank, D-65 when CAT 87 occurred at the time this model depicts in June 1987 in Grafenwoehr, Germany.
Very accurate modeling, except the bumper number backgrounds were more of a tan color, this appears a little too yellow. There would also be two antennas on left/right rear turret tied down facing forward as was the standard practice of all US tanks in Europe at that time.
The only other addition to this model depicting D-65 in June 87 would be crew names stenciled in black on left and right sponson boxes and driver on the driver's hatch(TC and gunner on right sponson, loader on left) like so:
TC 1LT WEISS
GNR SGT MATHIS
LDR SP4 KELLER
DRV PFC SLEETH
This was the actual crew of this tank at that time. Note any -65 tank is the XO; in this case the XO of D Co, 4-8 CAV.
