Getting back into it with the Tamiya Mazda RX7!

Post by EricM »

Finally getting back into the hobby after a 4 year break!

Going with the Tamiya 1/24 Mazda RX7-R1

basic out of the box, but using some paint I bought before I had to pack it all up.
Scale finishes Mercedes Ireland Green.

Hopefully all will go well for me as I ease back into it, just got the bench thrown back together!

Got the body primed and painted today, color looks good a few spots to flatten down, but overall looks good and can do some improving with painting as time goes on. choosing a brown or tan for the interior color.

Exterior color is Mercedes Ireland Green base/clear

it went ok, my spraying technique could use some work, but overall not bad. i need to get putting the clear down better though, definitely as shiny as Paul's builds!

Clear coat was the rest of the Scalefinishes Superclear I had from a few years ago

Wasn't happy with the hood as you'll see on the next post,so I cut it all back with MLT(MR Hobby Leveling Thinner) and started over, went much better and finished with Tamiya x22 sprayed 2:1 with MLT. Flatted with polishing sponge and then buffed with Tamiya buffing compounds.

Looks like it's going very nicely Eric, that bonnet polished up beautifully. Love your choice of interior colour too.

for not having touched an airbrush or sprue plastic for near 4 years it doesnt look half bad, the interior came out better than i expected being a custom mix color. The next cars or trucks i build ill spend a little more attention to detail and get the paint work really looking spiffy. :cheers2:
