2022 Not the Usual Conflicts Rules and Guidelines - PLEASE READ

Subject Choices:

Any military model that was built or utilized in any conflict except for the two world wars.

This may include subjects that also took part in the World Wars but they must be portrayed in the markings they used in the other conflict.


Group Build Guidelines...
  1. Any kit manufacturer
  2. Any Scale is allowed.
  3. Anyone can join regardless of skill level.
  4. There is no restriction on material or any after-market products.
  5. Scratch building is allowed.
  6. After market decal sets are allowed.
  7. Dioramas are allowed
  8. You can enter as many times as you like.
  9. All kits MUST be in unstarted condition - no exceptions (damaged while in transit sprue parts are allowed).
  10. All entries must have a build thread in this GB forum area for the entry to be valid.
  11. A progressive build thread must be posted - which must include sprue and box shots, regular picture and/or video updates with comments on hints & tips - by sharing your build progress others can learn.
  12. You must provide a minimum of three still photographs (as well as any video) as part of your final reveal.

Start date: 1st January 2022
Finish date: 30th April 2022 at Midnight GMT.

Great. Now I REALLY have to clean up my work area and decide which partly finished builds I finish and which I put aside to work on bit by bit.

Which conflict would you prefer to do ?

I think I will do Vietnam era.

I have a few kits that could fit this build - Viet Nam and Gulf war in particular - B-52, F-105, F-4, Tornado, F-15, A-10, etc.
Also, it's a bit (quite a bit!) of a stretch, but I have several that fit the "Cold War" conflict - if that counts. More B-52s!!!
But the one I like most is my newest purchase - The Pucara!
It is 1/48 scale so it could go for my 1/48 drop in if I go with a different kit for the main build.

One way or another it will be built this year! :banana:

Happy New Year Everyone!

While I have participated in many Group Builds (GB's) in several other forums, I think it is high time I play here too. Consider me in on this one. Here are some of the ones I'm most eager to start building right now, which one should I choose for this GB?

1/144: F-18 Carrier Launch

1/35: M270 MLRS

1/32: A-10 Tank Killer


While I'm still building my 1/350 Yamato for another forum's GB and normally only build one model at the time, I will be happy to add one of these for this group build. Perhaps it will test my ability to multi-task (smile).

Happy New Year once again, and please help me pick one of the models listed to start in this GB.

This is probably one for the philosophers but I'm going to say the "Cold War" as an overall umbrella is out of bounds for this one as it's not technically a conflict in its own right - although any of the conflicts that took place within the CW Period obviously work fine.

Hope that makes sense but let me know if anyone has any strong feelings the other way and we'll take it to review :cheers2:

I agree. It was just brain storming. Anyway, we already had a cold war build.

OH, yes! They used to fly out of a base not far from where I worked. They were replaced by F-15s. I miss the Wart Hog.

I just noticed something, my A-10 is the twin cockpit / all weather variant and it did not participate in the sandbox. I will have to build something else. So I'm going to build a 1/48 A-7 Corsair as it fought over Vietnam, Greneda, Lebanon, Libya, Desert Shield, and Desert Storm. I think that will qualify for this GB.
