Tomcat's Meng World War Toons Panther

Post by Tomcat64 »

Being the Egg build I dispatched my able assistants to take a delve into the stash and they came out with this...
Image

Having had a rummage through the box they found some parts
Image

Some more parts
Image

Some rubber band tracks and decals
Image

And an instruction booklet
Image

Full of pictures that they'll probably ignore...
Image

If I can get them away from sniffing the TET we might make a start on gluing stuff together this afternoon :)
Cheers, Neil

OK then... the lads got themselves properly tooled up - what could possibly go wrong
Image

Image

And soon had the hull nailed together - they've left the tools off for "ease" of painting
Image

Being a tank they also generated a pile of wheels
Image

As well as a turret
Image

Aside from needing to drill out a couple of the mounting points the only real issue was that the turret hatch was missing the shaft, but luckily Stuart was able to fix this with his precision tool-craft
Image

With all the bits available it was time for a dry-fit
Image

Deciding it needed a test drive they looked around for a suitable driver but this guy wasn't available
Image

But they did find another willing volunteer...

Some say he can screw up a kit build just by being in the same town... all we know is...

He's called Bob!
Image

Painting up next - no worries there then...
Image

Thanks for looking :cheers2:

I couldn't put it off any longer - it was time to break out the paint, and the lads were ready for action...
Image

Surprisingly most of the paint seemed to end up where it should have gone
Image

Some of you may have seen I recently picked up a Silhouette Cameo for creating masks... I guess it went as well as it could for the first attempt
Image

Time to add some stripes and see how it all looks...
Image

Next up will be painting & adding the tools & tracks...

Thanks for looking :cheers2:

Very nice. Does it come with workable suspension, individual track links and hollow guide horns?

The lads have spent some decent time in the den this long weekend :)

Decals were added & tools & other bits painted
Image

Same on the other side
Image

And the turret
Image

Tracks were given a base coat of black/brown over black primer, followed by a dry brush of burnt iron
Image

Against my better judgement they then deployed a dark dirt sludge wash & wipe on all the separate bits - this went surprisingly well
Image

Bolted it all together and used a couple of dabs of CA to get that authentic Panther sag - the only issue was the paint flaking off the rubber tracks but that was soon patched up ... and so... there we are!
Image

The reveal photos are now up here

Thanks to everyone that followed along - this was a lot of fun :cheers2:
