A-10A Thunderbolt II-Warthog-1/72 Hasegawa

Post by johnv »

I started this but have very little done, the seat and part of the nose wheel well. I am using the kit decals for a Barksdale Hog from the Gulf War era in the Lizard camo scheme and the ominous sharks mouth, actually a warthogs mouth! John

They are cool, I use to live about 35 miles west of an airbase that was home of the Mass. ANG Warthogs in the 80s to 90s. They use to fly west and go over a mountain then over my house. Had my own personal air show. My son says they now see F-15s as they replaced the Warthogs. I have some of the cockpit assembled, painted and decaled. John

The cockpit is in the fuselage, I weighted the front fuselage to prevent tail sitting, then closed up the fuselage halves. John

Here is it's brother, another Hasegawa 1/72 but an A-10C kit. This one awaits light ghost and dark ghost gray paint. I am not doing a build of this one, will post it when it is done in the Member's Gallery. John

Good idea with the bolt for weight, I always forget that in my builds. Looks like you're making steady progress!

Moving right along, I am trying to get away from lead weight but still use it in some places as it can be "shaped" with a hammer. I am trying out my new mat. I started
some work on the engines, exhausts are green, camo color outside and I painted the inside a flat oily black as with the nacelles inside around the exhausts. John

Wow - you're busy cranking out the builds at the moment John.

Another nice work in progress here and another A-10 fan too :th:

Real nice even at this early stage. Couldn't help but notice the nose required a bit of work to get a good fit.
