Egg Shuttle...ala 3D

Post by Twokidsnosleep »

Lest we think I will ignore the Easter Sig...nope
Inspiration from BobM's build a few years ago, I found a stl file for a space shuttle and an astronaut:
viewtopic.php?f=709&t=28365

I include the files to give the artists their due recognition.

printed the shuttle

I have another shuttle and the astronaut printing over last night, so will process those after work tonight.
I have learned that overnight is a good way to be efficient with 3D printing as they often take a few hours to print. These files were 3 hours

btw, what resin are you using now? Did you make the switch to more environmental friendly stuff?

Yes it is an Anycubic translucent green eco one.
I was using it for dinosaurs and plants and just kinda kept rolling with what was in the vat and working
Very few fails with it so far...no jinx
It is stinkier than the other ones though and so got me in maritial hot water

Had some leftovers from a shuttle kit and so used them
Also Bandai X wing decal leftovers
I widened the shuttle bay doors and detailed the little guy a bit more and given him a 2k clear over the gold visor
I have some new ideas for a little diorama

Just doing some catching up and that's a great looking spaceship and I love the astronaut (Chris Hadfield?)

Looking forward to seeing what else you've got in mind for this - and maybe 3d printing spaceships for the Sci Fi GB later in the summer?
Cheers, Neil

Bit more work in the seams of the shuttle…prime, fill, sand, prime, fill, sand. Rinse and repeat🙄

The astronaut got a dark wash and a 2K clear on his face shield

That looks great :D

Will the tether support the weight of the astrodude sitting on his planet?

Nope, not by a longshot
I have painted myself into a corner with the concept and mounting to the base
This will be interesting to see how I can mount them

Could you create some sort of manipulator arm like the shuttle had and hang the astronaut off that for a bit of extra stability?
Cheers, Neil
