Howdy folks!

This is my entry for the GB. It's an older kit; but, it should be fun. I'm doing this out of box with the exception of extra sprue bits from previous projects and 3d printed parts.

Got the front deck glued on. Then did a bit of work on the next piece. The build is kinda slow at the moment due to cure times between large pieces. Once the decks are on, it should go a lot more quickly.

Additionally I bought some hull red MMP at the hobby store today. Got an extra Bandai Stormtrooper as well!

Reading on Scalemates, it sounds like there is a version of this kit that has a boat motor. I think that'd be radical. I'm very much wanting to get a scale model boat that I could drive around at the local pond.

Did some patching on the forward deck. I don't really know how well upkept these boats were, so I'm okay with it looking a bit rough. Also found out that my Tamiya putty was nearly completely dried out.

Additionally added the bilge vents. This task was made super easy via my purchase of lockable fine tweezers I picked up yesterday. They are game changing when dealing with small parts.

I believe they were kept up to a a standard as high as times permitted....crew pride was high.
But it's up to you the way you want it nobody is going to get all rivet counting about it.
Got one of those myself that I rescued from another builder that's partly done.

Started to assemble the console. This kit isn't very complicated, it just takes a long time between steps due to cure times.

Though, when I only have 30-45 minutes to modeling in the evenings, it's not that bad.

Did mostly prep tonight for priming. I'm going to paint in subassemblies, as this should make it the easiest to do. Plus, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to paint the hull red.

Also, when playing with the dog in the back yard, noticed some bees doing bee things. There were probably 5 or 6 working my bush.

I was going to do some modelling. This step has me stumped. There wasn't a previous part for the chain link part to fit into, and the ring is supposed to go over it. Any ideas?

Sorry I dived into my partly built second hand kit and guess what.....that piece is missing. So I can't help ..sorry.
Check out DW's build you might glean something.

Wow, I don't know how I missed that build. Thanks for the help!

Ends up, I was able to fit the piece in and glue it down. It's just got weird geometry when looking at it. Next couple of pieces have been glued together; but, now I need to wait for them to cure before continuing.

Loads of primer and paint!

Got the green on, I may spray a dark filter to tone it down a bit. I'm also really happy with how the red anti-fouling paint came out. It looks great!

Got the bottom painted up.

Top coat on...

And painted the canvas in NATO Green instead of Olive Green.

I should add that my terrible paint management system saved me. The XF-58 Olive Green was needed for the boat. However, I didn't realize the two pots on my wall rack were both less that a quarter full. Thankfully, in my expanded stash had two additional pots. One half full and the other full.

I've been meaning to do a legit inventory of my paints. This has pushed that priority to the front.

I know the feeling, it propelled me when I built my new paint rack to leave space for a spare pot one behind the other for the ones I use the most. Also keep a dedicated note pad in the drawer with a list of any paints that are running low....saves so much time.

After some organization and barely getting through half my paint rack. I have 202 paint colors/washes (several multiples in there) very nicely inventoried and arranged. I'm also just a few pots shy of having the whole Tamiya XF- range.

I don't really know what to do with my Model Masters Acrylic stuff. They're not making it anymore; so, I'd need to be sure I had enough before starting a project.

Might be good for Warhammer 40k/Star Wars: Legion terrain.

I've got two more shelves on the paint rack to go, then the real work will begin with the paint pots that are strewn about.

Additionally, unmasked the hull. Looks good to me! The masking tape left some weird lines, I sorta like it, kind of looks like weathering to a degree.

That is a total weird effect from the masking tape. Teach me so I can do that on a biplane spars.....seriously.

Ps.....My below the waterline color is black faded matte. Cause I couldn't strip it off.....serendipity

Got some brush painting of the bits done tonight. Tomorrow should be a really productive night of modelling, after seeing Top Gun of course.

Top Gun was good. Lots of cool flying shots. It will inspire a new generation of aviators, just like the original movie and Independance Day.

As for modeling. I painted up the guns and water jets. Tonight will be assembly of most components.

It's a slog; but, will be worth it when complete. Tonight I did a lot of work on the Pibber while watching Apocalypse Now.

The entire wall rack has been inventoried now. Next will be my overflow containers and the Games Workshop paint caddy's I've 3d printed out. Currently I'm up to 283 different paint types (does not include multiples of a single color.) They are nicely organized now.

That does look like a very nice boat.
Paint rack is very organized too. They tend to run out of space as time goes on....another truism of modeling.... "All spaces will be filled"

Yeah, I have 3 basically full bins of extra paints plus about 100 different Games Workshop paints. They don't use a product number that I can tell, just a color name, so my xcel sheet will be a bit weird. Then, all my top coat stuff is in the garage, so that will be a doozy to inventory.

I've decided to not inventory the Model Masters acrylics I have. I'll probably give them away like all my Testors paint I did in the past. There is an educator here locally that uses the donations for school projects and what not.

I've heard really good things about Pro Acrylics and Scale 75. I really want them, but I'm already into 3 different paint ranges. Though, the Pro Acrylics white is supposed to be awesome for brush painting.

I'm also contemplating to go see Top Gun 2 in IMAX. It's not quite like the real thing; but, dang if it doesn't look nice in theaters.

I rat ionized my paint collection and got rid of the Tamiya and kept Gunze ( My Hobby ) as the Gunze has a better colour range and they are both the same type of paint. I keep Life colour for brush painting, but not so many. I'm a bit concerned it's shelf life might not be as good as the gunze or Tamiya. I have one bottle that has gone all gunky.

TG2 on Wednesday I hope.
