Hi, longtime lurker, first time poster.

I got into sculpting figures recently, and decided it was time for me to build a diorama. For this, I decided to build a box diorama of the final scene from the opera Pagliacci.

Little did I know that sculpting and painting 26 figures would be as time consuming as it was. I had decided the scene would take place in the early 1890s, and this meant doing some research on the fashions of the era.

Thank you. Sculpting is much easier than it might seem. It's just a matter of forming putty around a wire frame. Once you figure out the basics, learning the rest is fairly simple. I only started sculpting at the beginning of this year.

Thanks, I like Puccini as well. The climax of Pagliacci is such a wonderful bit of drama though, that it felt like it made a great idea for a diorama. The only other opera I might consider a diorama for is Tosca. I will say that repeated listenings will certainly drum an appreciation for Pagliacci into your head. My perspective of it is very different from what it was before I began this project.
