Kit to be used: Tamiya Mclaren M23, 1976 James Hunt

Additional parts: Tamiya PE, PE injectors, Turned metall injector stacks, TopStudio dampers, various piping and propper decals

Paintjob: As it should be.

Info about the build:
Ok, I have to be honest with this build. I saw the movie Rush some years ago and I did like that Mclaren alot. It looks so simple yet powerful somehow. So when I saw the movie again I began to buy parts for the build. There is a sweet detail kit for ignition and injectors but I cant find a place to buy it.

So Im going to build this kit with the amount of detailing that I can manage and what seems possible to my modelling skills. Some weathering is requierd to get the Ford DFV V8 to look like its been used abit.

So the first pictures is from the engine build. I used a mix of Tamiya, Alclad and Vallejo paint on the engine. I did realy like the Vallejo exhaust manifoil color that´s been used on the exhaust. The flat black parts are just primed with Zero black primer. I do this because it gives the parts a nice used and worn feeling.

The wiring for the sparkplugs will be organized better ofcourse..
So as seen the injectors and stacks are not yet there, thats because a donkey is transporting them from somewhere in the world to me. Also the body colors are in the mail, I will keep it simple and easy and use Tamiya rattlecans for this.

While waiting for the rest of the engine parts, the body will get some treatment.

BTW: If someone knows about a place for reference pictures of the car itself or the Cosworth DFV engine.

While waiting for more parts.. It alot of sanding is needed and some putty work. On the sprues it says 1977, so does this mean that the mold is from that year?

And, a japanese seller managed to get the injector stacks sent too me quite fast.

So next up is some paint for the body and the injectors which is in the mail somewhere..

Yep that's right tooled in 1977 and probably reboxed ever since.

Its been a while since last update now. Over a half year. There are a few reasons for this but the main is that i changed job and have been working and training to learn alot of new stuff.

Lets get over to the fun part, modeling!

I'll let the images say the rest and more progress will follow on this build and the other I have going on..

Until next time...

That will be a nicely detailed model when done. Just google the engine and car, photos of them are everywhere.

Thanks alot guys! I will do more on this car pretty soon. I discovered that the paint on the top cover had some bubbles in it and needed to be sanded down and repainted, and I also made some mess that will be taken care of.

Sorry for the pictures, they'r abit bright and it kinda makes the wrong impression of the engine, its not that shiny. The work bench is a mess since my son have some fixing on RC cars going on.
