OK, so this is my first figure aside from pilots for planes. Its a licensed 3D print. Cant remember the company he got it from. I think she is coming along well. I have one thing that is perplexing me.

You will notice a pic of a very beautiful lady whos face I have put the sun over. Its fitting for her. Anyway, how do I get her color red for the hair? Thats not just a regular red. Any idea would be appreciated.

Not sure, but I would think but I would describe it as bright red copper.

Interesting and attractive hair colour,
Perhaps you will need to use red/brown/copper layers with a copper "wash or dry brush" to give the highlights that will bring it to life?
an interesting problem to solve, I look forward to seeing your take on it.

That's a great looking figure

The hair colour will definitely need a bit of experimentation to work out but I'd start with a deep reddish brown as a base (e.g. a dark rust) and then maybe build up highlights by gradually adding a light sandy tone. You might need to use a Sepia (or even red) wash to bring it all together as well

Whenever I've tried to tackle "red" hair it's always turned out more ginger than copper though...

It might be worth having a google for NMM Copper and see what comes up?

OK, so i ran to the closest hobby store to me. A bit less than an hour from here. They have the full line of Revell paints. I like the paints, just not those FLIPPING USELESS TINS!!!! Argh!!!!!!!! *regains composure* Anyway, as I was perusing the choices, I found purple red. Welllll now. I grabbed it. Mind you, before I had the brilliant idea of running to store, I ordered a couple other red colors from Ebay. So I will have reds absolutely covered now. LOL

So I used the purple red straight up as the base. Its a gloss, so ignore that aspect for now. It will get a flat coat. I like the color straight as is, but my use Testors dark red or the Revell Carmine when it gets here to accent. Then maybe dry brush copper very lightly. Or maybe even some brick red. I will experiment on the lower parts where it will be easy to remove anything I dont like.

I wonder if a clear orange might give it the copper lustre.....I'm not great with colours so I'm not sure
Then a black wash ??? Am I way off base...I haven't a clue

That's a superb base colour to start with "PurpleRed" who knew!

I'd maybe give it a dark brown wash to get into the shadows and then apply the same base colour to start the highlights

I got the other colors in the mail today. I dry brushed carmine red. It accented just right and calmed down the gloss from the purple red. Then a lot of dry brushing and removing copper. Some spots are still a bit metallic, but I like it none the less. Then the flowers in the hair.

I'm not a big fan of shadowing. To me, it's too artificial. Shadowing happens with a figure the same as it does with anything else. As you change your perspective, as the lighting changes, so does the look. Just as with an actual person standing there.

I get what youre saying. But to me, the figure has plenty of depth on its own and natural light casts the shadows just as it does on a real person. Just as I am not going to shade under the eyes or cheek bones. Light casts the shadows just fine as there is good definition on the figure.

Anyway, further progress. I realize she is...uneven. LOL I will work on that tomorrow. For some reason the one side just didnt want to paint the same. Maybe it was the angle I was using. But Ill fix it.

OK, with the exception of a few touch ups, she is done. The owls eyes are just gonna have to be funky. I tried a couple times. If I keep effing with it, Ill mess it up worse. LOL

Now to finish the base and spray some dull coat.
