Are you building a Diorama too or just the kit with extras?
Happy modelling dude.

What do you think about this kit (especially in terms of the tracks)?
Does it worth the money?

Nice one

That PE should liven this up a bit.

I wonder how many units Tamiya produced of this kit? I see them everywhere. I'm glad that model builders are still making use of this vintage model. Looking forward to seeing them all built up.

Saw one at Telford and was sorely tempted but SWMBO

has banned me from buying anymore models until i've built some. But for it's age it looks very modern.

Well, serious lack of time has meant that there is no way I'm going to get all the etch done in time. Really grips my S*** that I don't have a lot of time to model any more these days!
So, I'm going to go for the F version now without the etch. Hopefully, it'll still look good

Choosing the colour scheme is always difficult! Whatever you choose, it will be awesome

Grey down with some subtle modulation...
Tracks ready for some Ultimate wash

Masked up....
and result....
I have used the wrong grey! It's too light, I picked up the wrong bottle out of the ones I was testing (very annoyed!), but too late to change it now. So, onwards...
Hopefully get some filters on tonight....

It took a while when the scent reached Holland, but yeah. ... Here I am!
I love the smell of PE in the morning. . And afternoon. ... and evening. ....
Good luck Lee, looking good so far

Great work so far Lee!
I like the look of that lighter grey, think it will look great once you've got some filters on.

I paint my models always slightly lighter than they should be because the washes and so on tone down the paint a bit. It will become darker so i don“t think thats a big issue. Camo looks great!

So, sat looking at the Panzer this morning and noticed I hadn't done anything with the exhaust! I've never had to rust anything before so this is my first time at rusting, be gentle....
I tried to use a couple of colours to give the rust some tonal difference, then hairspray over the top...
It doesn't look too bad, but there's definitely not enough dark rust or variation (lesson learned for next time)...
A very thin coat of grey...
Then went to work with a reasonably stiff brush very lightly. I out a very thin coat of grey on so, not much effort was needed....
As you can see, none of the tonal variance has come through at all, which is a little disappointing. But I'm now going to purchase a rust set from somewhere for the next one

I'm hoping that the Ultimate rust wash will make a difference as well as I'll also be mixing that with the dark dirt to get a little darker rust effect.
Then I did the tool handles - Nothing special...
Then added some smoke on the rear vents, some small rust/dirt spots here and there around the body and a few other odds and sods done. Now ready for gloss coat and decals
Got to say I'm really enjoying this, you armour guys have a new convert

Well, after some one kindly pointed out to me that I had exhaust stains on the intakes, I had to change it slightly.
I hope this looks a little better?
Bit of mud wash on the tracks
And decals on...
Will try and get some weathering done tomorrow, but it's going to look very poor indeed against all the awesome entries so far....

Great work Lee, the streaking looks nice and you've managed to keep it thin so it looks perfectly in scale - well done.

Superb looking weathering
the rust streaks look nice but they have all similar lenght. next time you could vary that a bit more.
are you sure you are not a tank guy? you have talent for this genre for sure!

Thanks guys...
Well, final update. Looks like I will get this done on time....!!! I know right...
Put the final wash on (Dark Dirt) just to dirty the PzII up a little....
Put the tracks on - what a PITA too....
You can't see it, but I've used three washes on them and dry brushed the edges in silver. They look really effective, but the camera's not picking it up
Just got to do the headlights, another wash (dust/light dirt) and matt coat then it's done. I really want to do a small base for this, but don;t have the time before the end of the SiG so, will do one at a later date....
REALLY enjoyed doing this.... "D
