Hi all,

I picked up this little airfix kit a long with a few others as something different after a number of stalled and frustrated attempts at cars.

Only spent an hour but got the wings together.

Any tips or things to look out for with this kit?

So far it's gone together easily.

I too ventured back in to 1/72 planes, mainly Airfix, as a nostalgia thing and have really enjoyed it so far. I've done the Hurricane and as far as I can remember it goes together very nicely so you shouldn't have much in the way of problems. I have found with Airfix that generally the newer kits do fit very well if you pay attention to clean up. The design work seems very good but sometimes the moulding needs a little sharpening up where parts join. Basically if you put the time in with plenty of dry fitting in my opinion they can match many of the more expensive alternatives.

I've also started a spitfire which seems a lot simpler in detail but was not as nice to build as the hurricane.

I guess that's an older kit.

Spitfires being built to get more practice as I think I have another spit elsewhere so it's my sacrificial lamb while I work out a paint strategy

I would kind of agree, the newer kits are certainly much better designs although I thought the Mk.1 Spitfire was a nice kit. Have a look at the Tempest and the Spitfire Mk.V, well worth the money in my opinion.

nice first plane ! and 1/72 airfix are great way to start in my opinion as they go tighter relatively well and fast. And the small scale helps going faster

Step 12 of the instructions shows adding Part # C1 to the centre of the undercarriage bay.

You seem to have missed that step.

That's this piece:
