Dragon DS tracks

Post by digger303 »

This has been talked about often in forums and FB some time ago, but I thought I'd add a reminder.
If you have Dragon kits in your stash with DS tracks this is what you can expect....they don't store well.
Also a wary note to buyers of older kits.

Yet another reason not to buy Dragon kits. :pistols:

I didn't know Fruills had gone out of business. I know they had switched to direct selling a couple of years back but that's shame if they've gone under.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Same here - I guess they've been hit hard by cheaper resin & 3d printed alternatives

Older Dragon is better because they predate DS tracks. My main issue with them is the price. £69.99 for a Stug III is a shocking amount of money. Its all about choice at the end of the day but when I can get a Tiger 1 with full interior for £60 from RFM I am not tempted by new Dragon stuff at all. :bash:

Best way to buy Dragon is at model shows, cut price deals and check the box contents. A few years back I spent £50 and got a stunning Tiger 2 with all the extras and an 88mm Flak gun with full crew and a choice of 2 types of metal barrel.

Also, they trailed they had the Star Wars kit licences a few years ago and nothing came of it - another reason I shake the dust off my boots at them. :snooty:

All true I'm sorry to say. I've not bought anything new from Dragon at all and even rarely second hand. I bought the Japanese HA GO tank recently second hand and I paid 48 plus post for that. I absolutely refuse to buy $100 plus kits from them when they are just shuffling sprues. No value to be had at all and I'm really keen on the new manufacturers. One good thing is I can sell off Dragon kits for the same money I paid for them now. The one kit that has really stung me is the T-28 USA monster. DS tracks fell apart and dragon refuse to do anything. So I tried to buy the equilivent tracks in after market and having to do 4 sets that was expensive. That was bad enough, but the next kick to lower regions was the fact the damn things are the wrong width and the two detachable sections won't fit together without the tracks clashing. Not sure what to do about that....Not giving up just retreated to regroup.....and have a rum or two.....sigh.
