MG 34 My yearly report!

Post by CJSomerset »

OOPS! It's been over a year since I last posted anything!

I've kind of got hooked on a HUGE project....... Last time I said I was thinking of making a Bren gun, things have got a bit out of hand since then. I've been designing and 3d printing a lot of stuff but this is the only stand alone part that's finished.

I forgot to mention, it's at 1:1 scale and is nearly 5 feet long!
I designed everything from scratch using photos, I know it's not 100% accurate but after printing 50 bullets and 50 links for the belt, I discovered that you can be an actual functioning reproduction belt for £5 :bash: so I bought one and was pleased to find that I'd got the gun accurate enough that a "real" ammo belt fitted perfectly.
The only other bit that is not 3d printed is the stock, which I carved out of oak.

How ever my project is more "steam punk" (actually it's sort of Nazi Zombie Diesel punk!) So I've added some extras

And for the 3d printing nerds, here's what it looked like in ONshape

I have no idea what this has cost me! It's probably taken weeks to print and although it's huge, it's only a small part of the finished project :eeek:
Some days it's not even worth chewing through the restraints!

A truly awesome effort in everyway. Not only awed by your CAD skills and the printing of such a object, but the weathering is truly realistic so much so I couldn't find anything that didn't look real. I can really believe it took a year to achieve this.

On a real sour note though if this was in our country it would get confiscated because it looks like the real thing and could be used to scare and intimidate the public plus the police wouldn't be able to distinguish whether it was or not from a distance either.....and they would just shoot you to be on the safe side.. :shock: :roll: :(
:bow:: :bow:: :bow::
:cheers2:
Listen and appear wise
