Global Scale Modeller

Howdy folks,

I'll use this thread as an all encompassing thread for WH40k figures I paint up.

This one is Minka Lesk. She did some stuff for the Astra Militarum and is a pretty cool person.



We'll be using the paint scheme of my homebrew regiment.



Expecting to use primarily Citadel paints for this one.

The sprue came in a sprue securing box. Pretty neat, I've never seen anything like that before.

Assembly is straight forward. Only two pose options.





The build up process when fast enough.



Then a quick primer coat from Stynylrez. Now to just set up over night and start with the base coating tomorrow.

Well, I'm incredibly under the weather. Good news is I have a lot of time to model and the COVID test was negative. Bad news is I need to blow my nose constantly. So I've loaded up on Chai Lattes and Ricola cough drops to settle into the bench.

Used the Militarum Green contract paint as a base for the blouse. Aggaros Dunes contrast for the hair. Mephiston Red for the head band. Liberator Gold was used for some gold highlights and I'll end up using Cadian Fleshtone when I get to that state.

Also, I bought the omnibus series of book for this character. I got through about 20 pages before needing to attempt sleep. Pretty neat so far.

I will have to pull out my Citadel set and revisit them. They are excellent brush paints just such weird names

It's nice being able to spend a lot of time on one figure. Usually I batch paint the Imperial Guard guys and don't spend a ton of time on each individual model.

Up close under a microscope there are small issues. From 2 feet away, I'm really liking the look so far. Additionally the base will have some fun things to paint, i.e., a scull in a helmet and broken pipe.

Great brush work.

Starting to look a bit more fearsome. Next up will be painting the sword and doing the basing.

Interesting this is that WH40k is in "28mm Hero" scale from how I understand it. Though this model seems to be a bit closer to 28mm scale. The "Hero" part just means bigger heads and weapons on otherwise mostly proportional minis. This mini seems to be much more proportional than the older Astra Militarum models.



Of note from left to right, the 1st, 3rd and 4th are older Astra Militarum models. The 2nd is the one I just did, and the 5th is a .stl 3d pring in a true 28mm table top scale.



Another weird thing happened. I was trying to take pictures on a white background and my camera kept doing weird stuff to add these horizontal lines. Does it have something to do with the light wavelength and the caerma's update rate?
