Such Sadness

What happened is I went to snip off a part that I should not have installed. Got the nippers firmly in place and then applied a little pressure.
Nothing happened, thinking I didn't have the nippers positioned correctly ( did not have my glasses on) I shifted them slightly and then applied more.
Ping went the blade stupid me forgot that when installing this I used a metal pin to make it more sturdy. Pin score 1 nippers 0 I was thoroughly saddened to lose my favourite nipper. No standing to be without them I started checking and found a store that sells the genuine Dspiae nipper. Man they have sky rocketed in price as I only paid 35aud for the now broken pair. I managed to get one for $54 plus $11 minus a 6 dollar discount....59 all up which is better than all the other stores at $66-$72. It should be here in 13 more days...

Hopefully in time for my next build.

Ouch!
It's always a real pain to lose something that has served you well for years.
Glad you got a new set sorted though - can you still use the old ones for rough work like chopping up sprues etc?

I'm generally that way when it comes to any of my modeling tools; cutters, blades, clamps, files, tweezers, even brushes.
It's almost like starting over. Glad to hear you found another, even though they hiked the price. Any time you have a "go to" item, you just have to have it.

I actually bought a cheap knock off pair to go with a kit I bought for my son. Trying to win him over into the realms of modelling, alas it was like pearls amongst swine

. However the cheap pair were just that and nowhere near the cut and precision of a better quality product. So tested the water and found it murky to say the least...

So it's with the tried and true and well loved as you say the go to item.

I think I can grind the blade back a bit and still use them , but won't be as useful.

Real men don't use safety equipment....it's a thing...
Actually where it was the flying metal would have been contained although I was wearing reading glasses.....not classed as safety equipment so manhood is intact..
